Most electric saws will have a saftey cut out micro switch for the chain brake, pull the hand guard fully back toward the rear of the saw to make sure the brake is completly off, now try again.
sounds as its still damp inside of handset. u could strip down and make sure the water hasnt coroided any contacts which is making it discharge to earth.
with regurds replacement handsets , i have been looking for spare base as mine is just started going and cuts calls off ( sound like dry joint in base unit or power supply is giving up) try a philps dealer to see what spares philps have other than that it secound hand units.
Normally the micro switch that decides to charge battery or use main power goes, its a known fault in laptops today , its a big job to replace them . your best bet is to search ebay for a secound hand board or even the same laptop for parts and replace your main board. hope this helps you in some way.
oh when you plug in the main adapter hold it in a angle slightly for 5 secounds and see if it reconizes its plugged in try figure if its a conection problem on the laptop itself. but i think myself its the micro switch on the main board that is fualty.
