Question about GE A730 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Battery/Camera dies? Battery Problem: I bought this camera last Dec, Just two weeks ago I have noticed the battery dies after 2 pictures have been taken. I have replaced all different kinds of batteries including a 15min battery charger. What is the problem, I am so dissapointed.? Like ch007, I have a GE digital camera model A730 and I get a warning that the batteries are exhausted after just a few pictures in spite of having replaced the batteries with new and charged rechargeable batteries of good quality. The batter indicator shows that the batteries are not exhausted but the warning says they are and the camera shuts down. I got my camera as well as 2 others of the same model as gifts for family at the same time that ch007 did.

Go to the menu and make sure you have the battery type set to the kind you are using.

Here is a link to troubles which may be related to this camera:

The updating of the internal software called firmware may be what will help in this case.
    Worth a try.
Make sure, if you update the firmware to follow the directions exactly, other wise you could damage the camera to the point of no return and render it of no use.

Sounds like you have a defective camera. You might want to take the camera back to the place you got it and get a replacement. You can try removing and reseating the batteries to fix the problem.

White lines appearing on display after picture is taken

I have the same problem, and upon looking into my problem, i recall reading that Sony had used crappy glue in which they attached the CCD to the inner guts of the camera, and when that deteriorates, which doesn't take very long, then your pictures will have lines through them.

I think i remember reading that Sony said they will replace all cameras within 2 years of their manufacture. Call Sony's troubleshooting and support and they may replace it for you.

Hope i helped solve your problem.

TIPS:
1.)NEVER PUSH THE LENS IN AFTER CAMERA DIES, BUY A NEW BATTERY IMMEDIATLY AND TURN IT BACK ON, CLOSING THE LENS!

Do as i say..

1.) Remove battery

4.) Move the gear manually to make the lens come out.
5.) keep it out, put the front plate back together.
6.) reinsert the battery, turn it on.

Camera will not turn on

I think the heat did it. If you read the instruction book, it most likely has a page that says no excessive heat or cold. If you bought it a week ago, take it back to the dealer for warranty repair.

looks like the battery rating that you have used is not the rated ones that you are supposed to use with the camera. check the mah of the batteries supplied with the camera and the ones that you have bought. it should be the same or possibly more than you already have. Always remember that the batteries you buy at the shop may already have outlived the shelf life. after using it check if it still has any life in the battery, in a flashlight or something, that will indicate some charge in it. maybe the batteries are new but bad.

Going through batteries abnormally quickly

Hi. I bought a used A70 that had that problem. I disassembled the outer body panels and found that a base panel assembly screw was too long, and was touching the LCD's ground cable, at the cable's tip. I changed the screw for a shorter one and it was settled. It never happened again.

Samsung Digimax V4 Power Consumption

I had similar symptoms as well until it finally died: 1) First started eating batteries like crazy, especially standard AA and rechargeables. The CRV3 seemed to work a bit longer. 2) One day out of nowhere the autofocus stopped working. I replaced the batteries and it worked again for 10 shots. Then the autofocus stopped working and battery died (with the lens stuck open). Pressing power, the LCD backlight flashes on, the LED in the view finder blinks, and the lens motor makes noise. Then nothing just stuck open. 3) Again new batteries and was able to close lens, take a few pictures and dead again with lens stuck open - same problem in 2. 4) Replaced the batteries a couple times and was able to get a shot or two off, and now its complete stuck open, even with brand new batteries - with same problem in 2 it just won't turn on. I finally sent it to Samsung the week of Christmas. I called Friday 1/7/05 to check and had to leave a voicemail. They called back Monday 1/10/05 to let me know they recieved it and that I should call back Thursday to check its status.
