Ok, this http://ftp.sanguine.jp/pub/sahughes/utils/rescue/ebcd/ebcd-0_6_1-pro-sfx.exe has a password editor. Instructions on how to use it are here http://www.elamb.org/hacked/ebcd.htm

Hope this helps. If not, take it and windows CD to a shop. You may find they just reinstall windows again though.

Will not run xp pro i'm stuck in 2000 mode mother board is ak77 pro 133 vt8233 will not run xp pro i've been told im pretty much sol. Is this true?

If you have a valid Win XP Pro CD and want to install the operating system you'll need to format your hard disk drive. If you have allot of data on you're hard disk drive, (In Win 2000) Suggest you create a second partition within the free space of you're hdd and install windows XP Pro. Boot you're system with the XP CD. Pay close attention to the display screens. Follow the instructions for creating a second partition.
Format the new partition. (Quick). Install windows XP on the new partition. Once completed you can copy your personal data to win XP.
If you choose to keep the win 2000 partition and you do not wish to have a dual boot system than remove/delete the root files from the 2000 partition. These files; Autoexec.bat and Boot.ini. You're new XP Boot.ini should read like this;
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect /usepmtimer
Once you're satisfied an no longer need win 2000 use windows diskmgmt.msc from the run command to delete the win 2000 partition.
Win 2000 uses a FAT16 where Win XP uses the FAT NTFS.

Cheers!

Windows 2000 only supports up to the 137gb. With some registry edits it may show all. Try to google "windows 2000 hard drive size" and see what you come up with.

Motherboard upgrade??

Dear kaname,

Your computer can support Windows XP, which has better hardware support and compatibility with the 2003 Office suit. XP also updates your hardware automatically once you are on the internet. You might want to try this.

Keep in mind that the older the Operating System, the harder it is for Office suites to compat. Newer Operating systems have better support for your computing. If you don't have HDD problems, the BIOS should not prevent you from loading SP2 for Win2000.

Conclusion:

1. The SP2 Source Disk may have a problem
2. The Win 2000 you have already loaded may be missing components, preventing the SP2 to load.
2. Notton Antivirus versions and the 2003 office both reject Win 2000. They just don't like it; it's getting too old.

Get with it, Kaname!!!!

Bios update for atc 5220

Once in the BIOS you could try restoring it to the default settings (an option that you should find along with the other options including exit options). I personally feel that re flashing your BIOS should be an option of Last Resort. I am no authority on Windows 2000 but if I'm off, I'm sure someone who is will provide a better suggestion.
Good Luck.

PS: What service pack is Windows 2000 Pro up to now anyway?

Problem in audio driver for Windows 2000

Hi, you need to go to the manufactures web site and download a driver designed for Win 2000 that suits your audio system. Have the motherboard model number, serial number, and rev- number and any other numbers you can see on the board ready, when you get to the web page go to downloads and track what you want there.
