I have Toshiba laptop. I have installed Windows XP with service pack three. I went to one of the software website and my laptop got infected with Trojan Horse. I cleaned it and the laptop stated working fine but I lost my desktop wallpaper. In the display control panel I am only getting three tabs now instead of five. ie Themes, Appearance and Setting. I am not getting Screensaver and Desktop tab.

Re: Display Property For Windows XP
I just cleaned up a similar situation this weekend. Try this. Go into the control panel and create a new user id. Log off of your current user id and use the new one you created. See if the tabs are still there. If they are the virus trashed your desktop and you should create a new one.
Before you do that try scanning for viruses with the new desktop you just created. It might be that the virus exists on your old desktop and it won't go away because it is running. Checking for viruses using the new desktop can get rid of the problem.

I hope you mean SP3(Service Pack 3) on XP. Please follow these steps
Do one of the following:
If you downloaded SP3 from the website, to install it immediately, click Open or Run and follow the instructions on your screen. To install the program later, click Save and download the installation file to your computer. When you're ready to install the service pack, double-click the file.
If you're installing SP3 from the Service Pack 3 CD, insert the disc into your computer with your current version of Windows XP running, and the Software Update Installation Wizard should automatically appear. If this wizard doesn't appear, click Start, double-click My Computer, right-click your CD or DVD drive, and then click AutoPlay.
On the Windows XP Service Pack 3 page, click Next.
Follow the instructions that appear on your screen.
After the installation is complete, click Finish to restart your computer.
If you disabled your antivirus software, enable it again.
for more information check the Microsoft website..
Open Windows Update (located in the Windows XP Control
Panel), and see if SP2 is on the list of available updates. If you don't

website in order to get the latest Windows Update software.
Select the Windows XP SP2 item from the list of available
updates, and click the "Install" button. Windows Update will begin

longer, depending on how fast your Internet connection
is), and will then launch the installation program once downloading is
Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the Windows XP
Service Pack 2 installation. You will be asked to accept the terms of
the licensing agreement before the actual installation takes place.
Installation may take up to 20 or 30 minutes, after which you will be
required to reboot your computer in order for the changes to the
operating system to take effect.
Should you have problems installing XP Service Pack 2 through
Windows Update, download the stand-alone executable from Microsoft in
order to install the software update manually. The Service Pack
executable is designed to make it easier for IT professionals to update
multiple computers without having to download the Service Pack onto each
one. Run the installer program once you've finished downloading it, and
follow the on-screen instructions as mentioned above.
Let it install what ever moduals it needs to install and then click custom button, under optional software if there are ANY Direct x updates install them, also install service pack three it has a lot of fixes for multimedia applications and is the most stable version of xp out there.

toshiba are only supplying vista drivers for your laptop however there is a way to get the right sound driver you need to find out what model is your sound card the best way to do that is to download a free software called AIDA32 once installed on your laptop it should tell you what model your sound card is then just go on the sound card's manufacturer's website and download the right driver i think yours sounds like realtek. another way of finding out is to go to www.driveragent.com it scans your laptop and tells you what drivers are up to date and what are not it also tell you which drivers are missing and gives you a link to download the right ones this is not a free service but it's good value for the money i use it all the time never let me down
