If you are using the same usb cable and did try another mp3 player then it works,it seems charging terminal of you ipod doesn't responding,it might be corroded or might some charging pins are missing, broken or not align located at the bottom.

Please Do this basic steps.

* Clean the charging slot with the use of dry toothbrush, gently brush the entire area of the connector so this will contact the both interface. never use wet toothbrush cause might got short circuit.

* Check all pins in the slot if it is complete or intact. if one or two pins are missing or broken, it takes malfunction to system and connection. You can use magnifying lens to be able to see all pins clearly.

* If the charging slot is totally broken, just advising you to bring it to the apple service center near you for the parts replacement.

Hope this simple guide will help you... Thanks for visiting Fixya.

My Computer and iTunes does not recognize my iPod

Hi,

Try connecting this ipod to rear USB port on your desktop computer and then try this out

  1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
  2. Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this step
It should work fine

For it to recongnize, maybe try:
1: go to control panel
2:add hardware
3:connect your hardware device and click "yes i have connected the hardware"
4:scroll down and select install new hardware device
5:select install hardware that i manually select from a list
6:scroll down to windows portable devices
7:and choose MTP device
this should make it so your ipod is now recognised by the computer

My Computer and iTunes does not recognize my iPod

Look into the bottom of the iPod where the USB connects. Make sure none of the pins are bent and that there is no corrosion visible. Also, are you using the same cable when you connect the different devices?
