You don't say which version of the Mac OS you're using, so I'll assume OS-X. Control-click the iTunes icon in the Dock, choose Force Quit, and then try ejecting the CD from the Finder or Disk Utility.

Or

Reboot and hold down the trackpad bar mouse button

How do I get the DVD out of my Mac Book Pro

A few ways of doing this

1) restart mac and press down the trackpad after you hear the startup noise

2) if that does not work try opening up disk utility and click on the icon of your disk under the left hand column then go up to eject button and click eject

3) or open up terminal found in the utilities folder within your applications folder and then type in
drutil tray eject and then press return

4) Finally what to do is try pick up your macbook tilt the macbook to the one side and press the eject key and hopefully the effect of gravity will allow the CD to fall out.

However, I would say that DVD drives in all macs are a bit suspect and if
your macbook is still under warranty or under AppleCare take it back to the Apple Store and tell them that the DVD drive is faulty and they will replace it free off charge.

If it is out of warranty there is one other way to do it which I have used recently but IT CAN BREAK THE DVD DRIVE (Use it at your own risk), so only use it as a last resort. Get a thin piece of plastic (or credit card) and put a piece of double sided tape on it then with the macbook switched off insert the piece of plastic with the tape facing down in relation to the keyboard. Put it in about half an inch and you may be able to drag the DVD out.

Hope this helps.

How to eject a disk from a slot drive, when you've tried everything else

This is about trying to eject a CD or DVD stuck in a slot drive.
Most computers have a drawer-based cd drive which rarely suffers from disk jams.

Some high end PCs (and nearly all Macs) have slot drives where you feed the disk into a slot, the disk is then pulled into the machine. This gives better structural strength to the case, looks neater etc etc...

The problem is that occasionally a disk will get stuck. and there’s no little release hole on the front to push a paperclip in. There is lots of advice on the internet for the Macs, the Wii, and Pioneer drives of varying types, and most of these advise OS tricks, or firmware commands, however this trick is for when all those methods have been tried, and the disk is still trapped in the machine.

The idea is to stop the disk spinning and fool the drive into thinking the CD is bad, and it will eject it. I was taught this trick by a retired engineer, and it works a treat.

Fold a piece of cardboard (I used the side of a Frosties box) lengthways twice, until it’s quite stiff... Carefully push it into the slot until it bumps up against the edge of the CD/DVD.

Start the machine, and push the cardboard firmly against the disk to prevent it spinning. Wait for the regurgitating noises, and remove the cardboard to allow the disk to be ejected.

Easy.

I think i may have jammed two CD disks in my computer. Now they are stuck.

That's quite a problem! Generally the slot-loaded superdisk drive will prevent you from jamming a second in there so this could be a tricky operation depending on how far in you got the 2nd disk.
If it's ALL the way in it will definitely be easier for you to take it to a professional to disassemble your laptop to get to the drive and THEN disassemble to drive to allow the disk to be removed.
If it's only partially in I would highly recommend the following method of removal:
1) power off your laptop, remove the battery and unplug it. 2) using a couple pieces of paper towel or a thin towel and a pair of 5-8" pliers pinch the CD that is partially exposed between the towel. Make sure you get a firm grip on the 2 layers of towel and the cd, if it slips, reduce the number of sheets or thickness of the towel. Ideally we'll remove the disk without damaging it. 3) Once you can get a good grip that doesn't slip put your laptop on the edge of a counter or desk, place a hardcover boot on top and grip the book, laptop, and table with one hand (the book will help prevent damage to your screen) and the pliers holding the towel and CD in the other and pull the pliers away from the laptop. Hopefully it will pop out easily or with just minor resistance. 4) if you get too much resistance you might have the CD stuck on the spindle that goes into the hole of the cd, so if it doesn't budge at all I'd say a stop at a professional computer repair office is again in order.
I hope this helps! Please reply back with any further issues!

Dear sir i have a compaq prsario desk top having vertival mounted cd drive. i tried to load small cd on this but it got stuck and cd drive is partially opening and the cd is not coming out. wat am i todo?

place the computer in a position in which the tray will be horizontal ..after that take a look near the tray it is a hole in which a sharp object inserted will open the tray manually ..in case it is not opening from the eject ...and remove the disk ..
if the disk will not remove ...turn the computer upside down but the tray to be in same horizontal position ..This happens cause the disk is not staying in place .....and the tray being in horizontal position and upside down..the disk will come out when the tray is opened

Can't reboot iMac and disc is stuck in the slot loading drive

Shut down the mac by holding in the power button for about 10 seconds.
Is the CD a system CD or something else?
If it's a system CD restart the mac and hold down the letter C on the keyboard. after about 30 seconds the mac should boot up into installation mode. If it does, click on the language then then at the next page go up to the menu bar and locate Utilities and disk utility. Run the disk repair then try and restart. (The flashing ? means that the computer cannot find a start-up drive with a valid system on it. The repair routine can sometimes fix that - it doesn't always though.)
If it's not a system CD and you obviously need to get it out before you can do anything else - restart the mac but this time instead of holding down the C key, hold down the click on the mouse. It takes 10 to 15 seconds (sometimes longer) but it will force the computer to eject t the CD.

I have a 13 inch mac book and when i turn it on the screen goes white with a file that pops up...and also when i turn it on it makes that sound of when you turn a regular apple computer on but its just...

Does the file (or folder) have a little ? symbol on it? If this is the case, it is not finding the startup disk. Try putting in the Mac OSX CD that came with it in the drive and then start up from that (hold the 'c' key down when you press the power button and it should start form the CD). When the CD is loaded, run disk utility to check the Mac hard drive. This may resolve the issue. Otherwise it could be a hard drive failure - in which case it may need to go for repair.

Can't eject Install CD Mac OSX Panther

Hi GInette, sorry to hear you are having problems,
here is how you eject a disk that is stuck in the optical drive of a Mac.
Shut down the Mac.
press the power on button
VERY QUICKLY, press the mouse button, the trackpad button and hold it down firmly until the disk ejects.
This is a built-in hardware command independent of your system and always works when doe right, unless the optical drive is no longer recognized by the Mac or if something is inhibiting it's ejection.
Good luck

Can't install Adobe InDesign CS3 for Windows

Try using the Windows Explorer (if Windows system, if you're on a Mac I think its the Finder) and see if you can access the CD from there. For some reason it's not reading the CD, make sure it's not upside down (duh!) and not dirty (unlikely). If you have multiple CD's make sure it's the Setup CD you are inserting. If you have multiple CD Drives try the other one. That's al I can think of. Good luck!

Macbook won't accept CD's/DVD's in Disk Drive

do you usually lean or put any pressure on the area above the slot-load optical drive? If you have anything flat and plastic around 1/4" (about 1/2 the width as a USB plug) stick it in the optical drive until you just feel it going past the door, and rotate 90 degrees so it opens it a little. See attached photos if you aren't sure what I am talking about7804560.jpg
