LS2208 - Adding a CTRL 1 as a prefix

The software we currently have is looking for a CTRL 1 (control button and the 1 button together) to notify it of an incoming scan. The LS2208 easily takes prefix values but it does not specify how to do a CTRL 1 (specifically looking at page 5-16 of the LS2208 Manual).

Anybody know how to do this?

Usually CTRL is denoted as a ^ (shift 6) so perhaps that may work.... I'll have a peek at the manual to check

    After looking at a manual

    http://www.rentit.hu/letoltes/MANUALS/BA...

I can see there is an ASCII table on page 73 which has CTRL codes on it, however CTRL+1 is not an option, there is CTRL+A-Z , CTRL+6 , plus a few other CTRL symbols but no CTRL +1

perhaps you could change the setting on your software to accept CTRL+6 as the input instead?

    hope this helps

Well, I received contact back from Motorola/Symbol pretty quickly. Unfortunately it doenst look like I can program it in as a ctrl+1 (I'll have to do some digging to allow the program to accept ctrl+2)

"I looked into your request to do a Control 1 however on our scanner we are not able to perform that function. If there is another way to setup the software to have it read something else that might be the best bet."

If your barcode is $V scan the following barcodes from the LS2208 Product Reference Guide.
Begin New Rule
Specific String At Start
$ (from the Alpha-Numeric section of the guide)
S (from the Alpha-Numeric section of the guide)
End of Message (from the Alpha-Numeric section of the guide)
Send Control S
Save Rule

That should do it.

I have a ls2208 symbol scanner that need to scan code 39.... The example below is return when I scan the following information. It seems to be do stange thing with the first 2 charecters. Can you help?...

Hi,
Your scanner is set up for full Ascii mode.
$B = CTRL B
%I = >

Re-program to enable "Code 39" and disable "Code 39 Full Ascii"

In Code 39:
$B = Control key on
%I = Tab

Hope this helps.

Two extra digits at beginning

you can use the code book to clear any prefixes that may have been set on the scanner or you can try a factory reset (using the code book)
