Question about Kenwood Car Speakers & Subwoofers

1 Answer

Hi, the motorized front of my Kenwood KDC-9027 is playing up. It stops the headunit turning on, when i can get it on the front moves and the unit is turned back off no matter what i press. The front feels loose and doesnt shut automatically. Thanks

Thanks for the reply. Ive checked the ribbon cables and they look good. I thick ive found the problem. The front motorized panel is belt driven from a motor through a series of gears. Ive found a gear that is shredded and bent, looks like it over heated. Is there anywhere i can get a "Motor module" or gears for the kenwood KDCW9027. Thanks again

Maybe the flexible ribbon cable between the face plate and the unit itself is broken and needs to be replaced. check partstore.com for part if you can do the repair.

I had a similar stereo in my Jaguar, but I never had issues with it. I had it for only three years though.

I found a place here in US where they sell Kenwood parts, I assume that you are in UK, judging by the model number of the stereo. There is a list for your stereo(KDC-W9027), but there are so many parts, that is almost impossible to locate that yourself. I would contact them and ask them what you need.

Kenwood kdc-148 is in protect mode why?

A car audio component like an amplifier (or in this case a headunit) is most likely to go into protection mode when there is a short in one of the speaker outputs-- in other words, if the + and - ends of one of the speaker leads are touching, this can cause damage to the internal amplifier of the unit. Some units will respond by putting the amplifier into "protection" mode, so that it does not damage itself. Check connections on the back of your unit, or take it back to the shop that installed it.

How do you switch speakers to rear of vehicle from front of car. I have a Kenwood kdc mp 4029

Hello my friend, Ok you can do one of two things, you can try this link, http://manual.kenwood.com/files/B64-2928-00_En.pdf

or you can email me and i can send you the pdf user manual. butcher960@btinternet.com

By what i have found is if you turn on the unit and press the volume button until you come to Fader, you then turn the volume knob left or right to change the sound from front to back, Colin.

Kenwood KVT-847DVD radom reset problem

I solved this by changing where the power for the DSP unit was coming from the manual specifys to connect them to the same +12 connector for display and DSP and it worked fine in the Series 1 however for some reason in the series 2 the DSP unit draws too much power from the headunit +12 power connector and as soon as the unit fires bass in a song etc it drags it down to the point of the display shutting off, I change the +12 on the DSP unit to my 4GA +12 power cable through an adaptor block and it has worked fine since.
