Most Dryers has a thermal switch that when the air flow gets so hot it will shut down the dryer until it cools down or on some models the thermal switch has to be replaced .. The most common problem to cause this is a restricted air flow somewhere in the exhaust of the heated air causing the dryer to reach too high of temp, which could cause a fire .. Hope this information is help full......

Whirlpool electric dryer LER5620KQ1. won't heat up timer does not advance

Same problem with my Whirlpool Dryer: Model LER4634EZ2 which stopped heating. I checked the coils that was "OK" then I checked the fuse that was "OK" I replaced the Thermal Fuse and High Limit Thermostat then after starting the dryer the heat came on ... problem solved NO.... the dryer just kept running and running until I opened the dryer door. Not going to put 70 or so $$$ into this 10 year old dryer which up until 12/15/2011 worked fine.

10 year old Kenmore dryer Series 80 suddenly has stopped producing heat. Vent is clean. What else can I try?

On a gas model dryer those coils seem to die when heated when they have a little age on em. So if the ignitor works and the dryer does a little bit of heating then fails and it is gas then those coils are the problem. On an electric model the element will get brittle with age and die but if your dryer is suffering from air restrictions it may have had a limit trip on it.

Front loader gas dryer suddenly stopped heating

The dryer may have a clogged or kinked vent line.
This will stop the heating.
remove the vent line form the rear of the dryer and see if it is hotter.
if so the vent line needs to be cleaned or replaced
