Good Day;
There is a product that you can buy from any part store. You can remove the whole unit to do this. Now it depends were you live, will depend on the price. It is a time consuming project. some times it would be less expensive to get news one, or one from a wreckers. Hope this helps.

Cheers

Hi I would like to know how to adjust my headlights on my ford ranger xls my17. cheers Dave

Depending on the model, recent or latest model has built in
adjuster for headlight. Otherwise, if your car don't have, then
you have to open the front hood and locate one or two screw
bolts besides each headlight. If you only see one (1) then
that can adjust up and down only focus. If two (2) screw
bolts, one screw bolt can adjust up and down (vertical) focus
and the other screw bolt can adjust left or right (horizontal)
focus.

Dull Plastic Headlight Fix

If your truck came with plastic headlight lenses. Here is the answer to your faded and dim headlights.
Don't buy expensive headlight cleaners or new headlights. Get yourself a can of Mothers Mag & Aluminum Polish.
Grab a rag and polish your plastic lenses with a generous helping in a circular motion and buff with a clean cloth. You can make them look like glass in a matter of minutes.

How to clean the headlight lens

This is a most unusual question as almost everyone knows how to clean one of the earlier glass headlights which like the later polycarbonate lens just needs washing with water and detergent and perhaps a brief polish with a glass cleaner or polish.

I therefore suspect your headlamp lenses are not dirty but have become scratched and sandblasted and in the case of the polycarbonate ones, discoloured.

If this is the case then the only solution is replacement though polycarbonate lenses can be improved and given a longer service life if not too seriously discoloured by polishing with an abrasive compound - the sort of cutting compound used on dull and rough auto paintwork and then finished with a finer compound. It is extremely long and hard work by hand but the careful use of a polishing machine will shorten the task considerably.

I suggest you ask for help and/or advice at your local car sprayshop.

Clean inside headlights

Go to junkyard and pull off 2 "new" ones, or drop the dough for new. Never heard of anyone ever cleaning out the inside of a headlight. I would say it is impossible unless you are a castmember from "Honey, I shrunk the kids!". However, I would say it is even more impossible to get the inside of one dirty as they are sealed and the only hole in one is where the bulb/socket assembly plugs in.

Passenger side headlight is dull; I have replaced with a new bulb, but it's still dull.

Almost certainly an earth problem. Bad or dirty connection to a part of the body of the car. Check for any corrosion on light fitting area, clean if dirty. Check wiring lead connections. Clean if corroded. Try spraying with WD40 or similar as this will prevent any further corrosion and ensure better earthing.

Also Check wattage rating and colour type on the globe you have put in. You should really replace both headlight globes at the same time to ensure similar quality of light is produced assuming all other factors are good.

Good luck with it, hope this helps.

How do I remove the plastic from the headlight assembly??

These headlamp housings are sealed and not meant to come apart. There is a headlamp polishing kit that is sold in most auto parts stores that is used with a low speed drill to polish the fog and glaze out of the plastic lens using 3 or 4 steps of fine gritted paper with a polishing compound to finish the job. If the housing has water in it or is very dirty inside there isn't a whole lot you can do to get that out of there short of replacing it. Hope this helps a bit!
