May i know which application are you using to print from ?
I guess "Mirror printing" is enabled , hence you are getting its desired effect.
Open a Notepad and print, let me know if issue still persists.

Calibrate the printer.

Please remove the cartridges from the printer. Take a dry lint free paper towel and gently wipe the contacts on the back of the cartridge (not the bottom from where ink is present). Wipe the contacts inside the printer (on cartridge carrier). Please snap the cartridges back into the cartridge carrier and please try to print a printer self test.

Go to www.partsurfer.hp.com and look under support and drivers. That's a known problem and a download is available to correct it.

scanning through bluetooth is not possible bluetooth module only pairs the computer and printer and has link only to the basic driver of the computer so you can only print from it
if you want to scan you should connect te usb cable or use a wireless upgrade kit

you should download the latest software, driver package from HP. I had to use the downloaded version to install my c5540. Win XP 32 bit and vista 32 bit: ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software10/COL23775/mp-61479-3/PS_AIO_04_C5500_NonNet_Full_Win_enu_120_215.exe

Your printer can print wirelessly through bluetooth only.

note that your computer must be bluetooth capable also.
