Lexmark x1200 printer cannot communicate with computer

After my "Working" printer was disconnected from the computer by a "Friend" on reconnection the printer would not operate, on attempting to print it gives the error message"printer cannot communicate with the computer".
When checking through Device Manager under USB connections it reports an error on USB Printing Support it gives the message "This device cannot start (Code 10)".
The printer has been unistalled and reinstalled twice and the USB cable has been changed, installation was using the original lexmark software CD, the operating system is Windows XP proffesional with service pack 2.

Try reinstalling the driver. Make sure the printer is not plugged in when installing the printer software/driver. Just turn on the printer and plug the USB when the software told you to do so. Code 10 is a driver problem (not loaded properly).

Go to Control Panel>Printers
Right click on your printer icon (make sure it is the printer you are trying to use there could be a few in there) and set it as default, then right click again and click Properties, in properties click Ports and make sure the check box next to USB virtual printer port is checked.

Hi-

Code 10 means that the driver is not loaded correctly, when you installed the software did it prompt you to plug in the USB cable during the process? under device manger try uninstalling the USB printing Support under universal serial bus controller, unplug usb and replug it after a couple of minutes. USB printing support should come back/ reinstall...

Can not make wifi connection with printer


If the printer is wifi ready, (you did not post the model number) then most of them require you connect them with a cable to the computer and set up the printer for wifi.

My Dell 3115cn printer will not connect to the network (it still works on USB cable), hard to believe it's broken, so can the printer system be reset?


Try turning off the printer and disconnecting power plug from wall. Hold power on button for about a minute. Then replug unit and turn power on - it should then attempt to hook up to your existing network.

If no go, try reinstalling the software that initially came with printer and was used to set up the network

Do you have a CD to install this printer? if you do go into MY COMPUTER where you can erase things and erase the printer and its system then shut computer off and restart then reinstall the printer using your CD to reinstall it. Some times you have to delete things and reinstall them to work.

Only thing is I did not find windows 8 drivers for this printer as standard so you may run into trouble with computers running windows 8 as each computer has to have the exact operating system printer driver designed for its exact operating system .
Unless you can find windows 8 drivers somewhere on the internet

Prinnter not printing but showing 'put custom in manual tray'


There is still a print job in the queue. Place a sheet so it prints or kill the job.


Open Printers and Faxes. Open printer. Highlight jobs and Right click > Cancel, or Documents > Cancel.
For those stubborn jobs, Right click My Computer > Manage. Choose Services and Applications > Services > Print Spooler. Right click and stop. Then start. This may have to be done from the Print Server if it's network printer. Contact IT to kill.

Why does canon MP258 printer with scanner can't scan japanese yen paper bill amount 10,000. I tried it over 10 times but it stops,. And when i tried US paper bill, it works well. I need some explanation...


When you scan with any scanner it utilised the software with "Optical Character Recognition functions, usually abbreviated to OCR -> OCR is a field of research in pattern recognition, artificial intelligence and computer vision." to scan and record the scanned object, sometimes it does not or cannot recognise certain symbols or characters because of man made software & hardware have its limitations too.
