Hey, I've been re-filling my cartridges for 3 or 4 years now without problems. Now with my new printer (Lexmark x2300 ) the re-filled cartridge will not work. I read that this crtrdge "talks" to Lexmark via my internet conn. & counts the number of pages that are printed, then shuts it down after a specified # of pages whether there is ink left or not. Is there any way to cover certain contacts on the crtrdge and fool Lexmark into thinking it's a new one? What do they think we are???? BADD LEXMARK :(

It could be due to the refilled cartridge that you are using. Refilled cartridges tend to degrade print quality and cartridge performance.
You can try to clean the cartridge nozzles. Please follow the steps below to fix the problem:
On the printer control panel, press Copy.
Press Options until Maintenance is highlighted.
Press the right arrow until Align Cartridges or Clean Cartridges appears, and then press Select. A test page will then be printed forcing ink through the cartridge nozzles and clean them.
Try to print your document again to verify that the cartridges are working.
If that doesn't help, I would suggest you replace your cartridges with new genuine Lexmark cartridges.
Yes you do need 2.
All ink cartridge bays has to be filled with a working cartridge, for the print driver to allow you to print. That is why I prefer single ink type printers, so it is not so expensive to maintain the inks you don't use.
The ink in the other is empty or if its refilled cartridge then ink is not filled correctly and cartridge cannot be used,if its new Lexmark cartridges get it replaced because the cartridges come e=with one year warranty.
Hi, reason we sell epson printers are they are the cheapest to run, but they do get alot of problems with the print heads, if you change from using refill ink kits to compatible ink cartridges you would not have to reset the chip each time, otherwise you will have to change to a more expensive to run printer like the HP, or Lexmark, lexmark is the most expensive for cartridges but it has the print heads built into the cartridge and not the printer itsself, epson only have the chip on the cartridge.
You can use the refill kits on most HP & Lexmark without having to reset the cartridge all you need to do is refill it.
but for every 3 for example you may have to buy a new cartridge which will be more expensive, ie if you get lines through your print, as the print head will probably get blocked on cartrdige.
