I dont know does ASUS k50IP have hardware to burn files to DVD.so does it have...answer please...

Had the same problem on Mac.
Solution: You need to connect device to machine on Linux and give it "eject" command.
Do not to connect device to Windows machine. I was trying to burn cd on Mac. Then it was interrupted in the middle of burning (some files were missing). When I connected drive to Win it tryed to unsuccessfully read it and eventually explorer.exe crushed. And it will not resolve until you reboot the machine.

1. Whether the Nero you are using is the one bundled with ODD module, if not, try to use the Nero bundled with the ODD module.

2. Check the failure message, please do the troubleshooting according to the failure message

3. Update the Nero version, update the firmware to have a try

4. Test other burning disks which are in different specification of different brands, if the problem still remains, please contact your retailer for a check

5. If there is no problem with other burning disks which are in different specification of different brands, test other burning disks which are the same brand and specification as the problem disk. If the problem still remains, please contact ASUS Call Center or mail to ASUS for further troubleshooting.

What are you trying to download? To burn a CD in Windows 7, just insert a blank CD/DVD, drag files, videos, pictures etc to the CD/DVD window - or right click send to and select your CD/DVD burner. A window will appear that says "files are ready to be burned to CD". Click on that window. Click burn files to DVD. If you are going to want to play the DVD on a DVD player or on another computer, select mastered when it asks how you want to format the DVD. Let me know if you want or need more details.

First you have to download linked file called "LG36868.IMG"

1. Then you have to burn this file to a blank CD
(The file "LG36868.IMG" is NOT an image file!. Just use
Nero or any of your CD burning programs to write this
file on a CD.


2. After burning, insert the CD into the DVD player and press play

3. Then the region management menu will be shown.

4. Input "0" to make it multi-region and then press the "pause" key by
Remote Control.

Enjoy, your DVD is region free!

check it for viruses and malware. do all windows updates
try to plug into lan with cable to make skype calls see if that is any better. wifi is sometimes not as good

Download any other burning software and use it ,so that we can come to know whethere there is a problem with your dvd writer or burner.if you dont have any other burning software let me know ,i will send you through email..........bye

There might be a problem with your dvd lense of your dvd burner,sometimes it happen when the burner software dont recognise cd or dvd..also i would like to suggest you to use original burner software for burning cd dvd's...sometimes it also happen that the burning software dont burn certain types of audio or video files.for eg nero 6 dont convert .vob files to convert.

Your bios is corrupted & needs to be flashed.

You will need to download the bios flash utility & a bios file.
creat a floppy disk with these to files that you can download from here. Click the link below.

If you are not comfortable with flashing your bios you can order one from Asus by calling 510-739-3777 CA. Please have your model Number ready & S/N located on a white sticker on the pink serial port.

First try a system restore back to the last date which you remember that it worked. If that doesnt help, you must find out what cd/dvd burning software is in your computer. It may have been corrupted. Oddly enough, you don't need drivers for the CD/DVD drives. They aren't even recognized unless you have a good non-microsoft burning program. Find out what burning software you have--download Belarc Advisor, a free program (Google it) which not only tells you everything in your computer, with model and serial numbers for hardware and all of your software (with their unique codes), but will also inform you if you are missing any needed Windows updates. Once you know what you have, if it came with the computer, you have to seek an upgrade at the computer manufacturer's website, as it may be a special program not related to the burning software purchased from the software manufacturer---go to their website for upgrades.
