T.V. comes on for a few seconds, the green light at the bottom blinks 3 times and then the power goes off. I tried unplugging the t.v. overnight but that didn't help. the t.v. is exactly 3 yrs old this month.

If the power light comes on (green) for a few seconds and goes off:

Here's my suggestion , unhook all the external components to the TV and leave the TV unplugged for more than a few minutes (a day/overnight). The next day plug the TV into the wall outlet (not the powerstrip) without anything hooked up to it, and turn it on. See if it comes on. Sometimes unplugging for a few minutes/hours is not long enough for it to reset itself.

I know these sets well, you lose brightness but still have sound?

Not a Plasma by the model number listed.

When green power light comes on and goes off a few seconds later:

Press and hold on the front of the set both the Menu and Input (source) buttons at same time for at least five seconds and let both go.

Power light will blink a two digit error code like: 2 blinks, 2 blinks and a pause and repeat it several times.

If set has been unplugged it clears the errors and you must turn on and when power light goes out repeat.

The set if it has a DM unit when unplugged should blink for 70 seconds and allow you to turn on.

If it does not, if when you try to turn on green light comes on and goes off---do the self check:

Press and hold both the menu and input buttons for 5 seconds and release both; power light should blink a two digit error code at least 5 times. 2 blinks, pause and 2 blinks is the most common.

If the set has a reset button on the front it has a DM unit---built in receiver--even if it fails the green power light will blink nonstop.

Again, if you try to turn on and green power light comes on and then goes off---do the self check and let me know what you find.

Based on the model number WS65511, this set has a self check.

Turn on and when green power light goes out:
On the front of the set press and hold BOTH the MENU and INPUT buttons for at least 5 seconds and then release both buttons.

Power light will blink a two digit "error" code.

The most common is 2 blinks, a pause and 2 blinks. Set will repeat the error code at least 5 times.

Let me know what error code you find and I will tell you what it means, I hope you find it is 2,2 as that is the most easy to fix.

Unplug for a few minutes then plug back in to try to reset it. Sometimes it could take as long as overnight before pluging back in to reset. Number of blinks is usually a trouble code.

unplug tv overnight. if that doesnt work the powersupply is probably bad.
