Canon PIXMA ip2000 assembely

I have been given the job of reassembling an ip2000 printer that the last IT techy took apart.

The bottom ink absorber was cleaned and put back but I neet to have some form of manual, with diagrams showing me how the printer comes apart and goes together again. (Ya know what I mean?)

I have called Canon but they wer unable to give me a manual.

Can someone help me with links to a repair manuals or someone who maybe has a manual they can e-mail me??

Thanks,

Shaun.

Ink waste absorber full

Clearing this error is a two step process - clean the absorbers and then reset the counter. If the printer is under warranty, let Canon technicians do the job. If it is out of warranty, the first step is messy and may not be worthwhile. The counter is set to a value that is expected to be reached when the printer nears its end of life. If you do the steps below, do not be surprised if additional failures occur.

First step: disassemble the printer to reach the two sets of ink absorbers. Have lots of newspaper or other absorbant material to contain the mess. The first set is under the area where the ink cartridges rest when not in use (and during cleaning cycles). The other set is at the very bottom of the printer. Start at the top of the unit and take it apart. You will need to remove some small screws to get at the different levels of the printer. Work slowly and keep track of the parts (some recommend taking pictures to help you reassemble the printer). Once you have the absorbers (small rectangular or square rubber pieces), take them out and blot the excess ink off. Blot the excess ink from the trays where the absorbers sit. Then put the absorbers under running water until the water remains clear. Dry the absorbers (use a hair dryer to speed the process if you want to). Then reassemble the printer.

Second step: reset the counter. Do not do this step before cleaning the pads; the waste ink may spread all over the printer and the table you have it on.
1. Turn off the printer.
2. Hold Resume button click POWER.
3. Hold button RESUME release POWER.
4. Then press the button RESUME again .
5. Release all the buttons.
6. Led Indicator in green and stay green.
7. Click RESUME button 4 times (the led changes color at each press (orange or green) It should be green after the 4 presses of the RESUME button)
8. Turn off the printer POWER button.

I hope this helps.

Waste ink absorber is. full. How do I empty it?

The waste ink absorber can sometimes be removed and cleaned out and put back into place. Although it is not always easy to get at. Usually once this happens it is time for a new printer. You can also contact Canon and see if they have a replacement part for this.

The ink absorber is full on my Canon IP2000 ink jet printer. How do I empty it please?

The waste ink absorbers are a pair of pads on the sides of the carriage near the bottom of the printer. You need to open up the printer (pop the top off). It is just clipped into place and held by its own pressure (you can usually see how it's held in). Unscrew (if needed) the ink carriage (leave the cartridges in place) and push it out of your way.

Wear gloves and have plenty of newspaper or something handy. Pull the pads out and rinse them clean (running water works well). Blot dry or let them dry in the sun. Use a hair dryer to get the last bit of moisture out if you are in a hurry. Then reassemble the unit. Then reset the counter for the waste ink tank.

To reset the counter:
1 - press resume button and then press power button
2 - realese the resume button and press 2 more times then realese both
3 - press and release resume 4 times and power 2 times...

I hope this helps.

(under normal use, the waste ink absorber is supposed to register a full counter at the expected end-of-life of the printer. Additional failures may happen soon.)

Tank for used ink is full - how do I change it?

Issue: Alarm / Power light flashes orange 8 times consecutively (Waste Ink Nearly Full Error)
Solution: Press the <RESUME/CANCEL> button to clear the error (1700)
Waste ink absorber error 1700
The printer has a built-in waste ink absorber to hold the ink used during print head cleaning. Eight flashes indicates that this absorber is nearly full.

Press the <RESUME/CANCEL> button on the printer to clear the error, so you can continue the print job. The printer will need to be serviced as soon as possible.

Smudging

hi i am a certified Canon repair tech on this model. when the waste message comes up this means that the waste absorbers in the bottom of the machine need to be replaced. just clearing the error and not replacing them will cause the waste ink to over fill and backup into the machines printing area smugging the print. there are Canon repair centers privately owned that can replace the waste absorbers and clean the machine. the average cannot take this machine apart into peices to clean it. The waste absorbers are fairly cheap but the labor to do this will vary from shop to shop. hope this helps clarify the problem.
