Re: The Charger light flashes orange 3x and green once...
Your battery has died, of a fail safe has kicked in. The orange light indicates that the battery isn't charging properly, and needs replaced. Replace the battery and it will be fine. Keep in mind that batteries are just batteries, they eventually wear out, and some faster than others. Also, the more you use the battery, the faster it will wear out, so I always recommend keeping the machine plugged in when possible.

The orange flashing LED light means that the laptop battery is not charging to 100%. This could mean that the battery is getting ready to fail or is in the process of degrading. You could be looking at replacing the battery in near future.
My guess is that the battery is worn-out -- no longer accepting a charge, nor holding a charge. Replace the battery, or find a specialty business that "refurbishes" batteries (by opening the case, replacing the cells, and re-sealing the case).
This is directly from the User Manual: If the computer is connected to an electrical outlet, the Battery light operates as follows: • Solid green: The battery is charging. • Flashing green: The battery is almost fully charged. If the computer is running on a battery, the light operates as follows: • Off: The battery is adequately charged (or the computer is turned off). • Flashing orange: The battery charge is low. • Solid orange: The battery charge is critically low.
Normally the battery light will rapidly flash orange if the battery is defective. It will alternate between orange and green if it is too hot to charge. Or it will either flash orange or be a steady orange if the battery is low or completely discharged. Based on this and the fact that you cannot get it to stay on for more than 7 seconds, I would have to say that you need to recharge the battery by plugging the laptop into an AC outlet. After all, it can't run without the juice.

That usually indicates battery is beginning to go bad. Eventually it will not hold a charge and will need to be replaced. Your responses are intended to improve the level of service provided. Please show your appreciation by rating your experience. Thank You.
