Try to connect the Garmin using the USB cable to a PC. Does the Garmin go into communication mode? If so - load MyGarmin.com on a PC/Mac and try to update it to the latest available software version (if available). Be sure to connect it to a wall / car charger to avoid the battery running out while updating.

If communication mode doesn't start - power off. Then press the On button for at least 20 seconds for a soft restart. If no response, try a master reset reverting back to factory mode. For this power down - then press the lower right corner of the screen for at least 20 seconds while pushing the On button. Wait for a question to appear to clear all user data.

Only screen is the garmin logo with the battery charge icon. When power button is pressed another icon appears for 20s: a picture of the garmin unit linked to a charger then back to the first screen.

Don't know if this will help but it might be worth trying, especially if you just did a software update. I have a 520 and it gets frequent software updates. After an update it ends up just showing the Garmin screen and seems to be bricked because nothing else works - even the off button doesn't work. The solution is to just let it sit showing the Garmin screen for five or ten minutes so it can process and load the new software which seems to take a long time. It eventually opens onto the main screen.

Garmin is not working. Nothing appears on screen.

A few tests to see if the internal processor is running - assuming the internal battery is charged.

1) Connect the car charger to the Garmin Dezl - the screen should light up with a text a while its charging the internal battery.

2) Connect a PC / Mac with the Garmin Dezl - the screen lights up with a computer icon on the bottom of the screen.

3) Hold the power button of the Dezl for at least 20 seconds - the Dezl should restart.

4) Master reset to factory defaults : hold the right bottom corner of the screen for at least 20 seconds while pressing the power on button once. A question should appear.

If none of the above produces any result - contact Garmin support - the Dezl is not working properly.

More hands-on details for the Garmin Dezl 560.

I need to calibrate my Garmin Nuvi 1260T. It's been alittle off ever since I got it. I tried holding the power button for 30 seconds and waiting until the calibration screen pops up but nothing pops up. ...

In order to calibrate the screen on the Nuvi 1260T, you need to follow these few simple steps.

- Turn off the device
- Hold the upper-left corner of the screen while turning on the device
- Release the power button when the Garmin screen appears
- Continue to hold the upper-left corner of the touch screen for 30 seconds until a white screen with "Press dot" appears.

This should allow you to calibrate the screen. I hope this helps!

Garmin starts loading maps, then screen goes blank

First do the master reset -Hold down finger in lower right corner of screen and press switch on button. Hold still until asking of erasing all private data appears. FAST click on YES.

If it doesnt work:
From www.garmin.com -cllick on SUPPORT -> SOFTWARE
Get webupdater and install it. Run it and you'll find button "Find device". Of course you can't because it does restart all the time.

Hold down finger in UPPER LEFT corner of screen and press switch on button. Hold still for about 10 seconds (GARMIN appears and nothing more) and fast connect the USB.
HOLD switch until icon of connected computer appears on the screen. After then device stops resetting.

Webupdater can find your device, and now you can put a new firmware by doing step by step instructions from webupdater.

Garmin is stuck on Warning screen --

Whenever these devices start acting up, I recommend performing a hard reset of your Gamin Nuvi 205. Also, use Garmin's WebUpdater service to make sure you have the latest software on your device.

I hope that helps.

NAV U53 GPS - MESSAGE 'SERVICE' ON A BLUE SCREEN AND A SPANNER

This is a return to Base requirement as there is no owner solution to this problem. This is the tricky garmin group doing a "Microsoft" to get more $$ from their users.
Perhaps consider an Altina, next time they have no sneaky money grabbing tricks to make money out of you at every turn. Garmin were good once but they have joined the throw away mantality group.
You can check out an altina at Marbella australia the main service centre and distributor

Blank screen

I had the same problem, so I hit the side of the Garmin a few times. It works perfectly now. Something inside was unaligned and needed a little force to knock it into place. I didn't hit it HARD.
