Question about Harman Kardon AVR 235 Receiver

Reciever Powers Down

I have the Hk AVR-235 as listed and Ive had it for a while without any trouble. But the other night While watching a movie the unit starting shutting down to standby mode. I thought this was a little weird so of course I grabbed the remote and turned it back on. The unit powered up and away we went. I noticed that all my settings had been erased. The unit cranks up and then 5 minutes later the same issue. After numerous resets the unit finally will not power up at all. Any Suggestions? If you have seen this type of problem and im sure you have should i even bother getting this fixed or should I just purchase a new reciever. Thanks Brettbav8

Hi...
Check ALL your speaker connections at both ends.
What kind of volume are you running it at and what kind of airflow do you have around it>?
Thanks

How do i connect my boston acoustics pv800 subwoofer to my Harmon Kardon AVR 520 reciever?

You need to use the LINE LEVEL connection on the pv800 (usually a rca type connector cable) and run this cable into the back of the HK 520 Subwoofer PRE-OUT connector, be sure the HK Receiver menu speaker set-up option is set to SUBWOOFER "YES"

Harmon Kardon AVR 235 no sound

Ensure that your speakers are connected to the terminals that you have your speaker selector switch turned to.
Then check that you have your device, whether it be a CD or DVD player, or turntable, plugged into the correct input and that you also have the correct input selected on the receiver.

When watching a movies or playing xbox my avr220 powers down when ever there is a boom in the movie or games or tv this just started about 2 months now

Something is getting overloaded.

When this happens:

Is it running hot? Find out why.
Is the volume set extremely high? Turn it down.
Are the speaker settings proper for the types and bass handling capacity of your speakers? Set them appropriately.

What setting do i put the reciever on when i use digital optical from the tv to the reciever

optical outputs from tvs only work if you use the internal tuners and other inputs on the tvs for your sources. then connect it to your reciever.

Harman/kardon avr 247 no audio or LED display on the reciever

I've had the exact problem. HK in the states is no help, you need to deal with a company in Montreal (Jan Industries). Regular techs are unable to fix it without schematics that only authorized dealers have and the manufacturer. This problem happened to me just after 2 years and outside warranty. I've bought a Yamaha today.

I had the same problem, unplugged the receiver for 5 minutes, then when I plugged it back in, it worked.

It could be the speakers are at too low of an impeadance or a bad speaker. Check the bad of the receiver and see if it states the proper type of speakers to use. Most say "8 ohms to 16 ohms "A or "B" and "16 ohms or more "A + B". if your speakers are 4 ohm speakers that is your problem.

Let me know what you find out about the speakers. It says on the back of the speakers where the wires plug in what ohm rating they have.
