Depending on how old the unit is, many times debris will accumulate in the microphone opening, try clearing it with compressed air or (very carefully, to avoid damaging the hardware) with a thin object

Help...my mxl v69 vac tube mic records well until the end of a song that has a sustained ending. Like it will record an open chord strum, but as the sound of the acoustic guitar starts fading away the mic...

I would see if the Phantom Power is OK.
Check with a voltmeter between pins 2 & 3 on the feed cable.
Should be around 40 Volts.
If not, check it on another mixer.
Now you know.

We have a 150. When we add a MP3 it sounds great until you add voices into a mic then it fades out. What could be causing this?

Turn the VIP level all the way down for the microphones you are using over the Mp3 music. If the VIP levels are up, the music will fade out so you can make an announcement.

When recording live music the tone quality fades in and out when the music gets loud/soft- How can I record a constant sound level without this fade/compresion. Thanks

Option 1:
Check your audio settings on your camcorder. You may have an option to zoom in on the sound or record sound all around you. Try switching between either of those and see if that helps.

Option 2:
Add an external microphone

Option 3:
Try to muffle (lightly cover up) your onboard mic to keep the loud sounds from auto adjusting the volume.

I've used the B1 for recording acoustic guitar for a couple of years on and off. I am suddenly getting no sound from it for no apparent reason. When I turn it on there's a sound for a couple of seconds...

Sounds like your phantom power source is the issue not the mike. First, I'd make sure the source is on. If you've got a voltmeter you can check for voltage from pin 2 to 1 and pin 3 to 1. I would not recommend more creative ways of checking for voltage. A local music store with some decent mixers could help test it out. If you've got other inputs on your setup, you might try those but they may share the same power source.

My nt2 fires up (and sounds great btw) but after just a few minutes fades out. If I jiggle or just touch the roll off switch on it, it comes back to life but only briefly. Frustrating not to be able to...

I would check the roll off switch first. If the mike is still under warranty, take it back where you got it for replacement or repair. Hope this helps.

When I switch on my Rode NT1 - A mic - it is OK until I speak into it and it cuts off for about 20 mins. Then it comes on - then it cuts off when I speak or sing. Can you advise?

I had the same issue. The sound would fade and then go dead.. The preamp in the device I was using wasn't strong enough and also the phantom power seemed too low to sustain the microphone. After adding a TUBEPre by PreSonus, all of the issues went away and I was shocked to hear how good this microphone really is. Was the issue low phantom voltage/? or a lousy preamp? All I know is , after adding a preamp all of the problems went away. This has to be the best microphone I have tried in this price range.

CAD Trion 6000 Not the best sounding and fades out when you sing loud into it and fades back in when you stop singing .I have 2 of these and the other works perfect with the same cable and mixer.

This possibly could be a moisture problem. Condeser type mics are VERY high impedance elements and any electrical leakage will make them cease working.

Also check that foam wind screen is not hitting the element.

My skype sound keeps fading in and out.

Change skype sound setting. TO do that :
Take Tools from the menu bar.
Then select options.
When a new window opens choose audio Setting.
Then below microphone volume untick - "Automatically adjust microphone setting".
Then drag the volume to maximum.
