We have two motorola CDM1250 two-way radio installed in the same room .Seem to be getting feedback in one unit when the other unit mic is pressed. it does not happen when the other unit mic is pressed....

You might check your antenna locations, connections, coax and cables. Feedback is sometimes cause by two or more transmitters being too close together (or bad coax/connectors). In the case of mobile radios, this would depend on the location of the external antennas. One radio may be more sensitive than the other, or a PL (private line) code is blocking the interference on the radio which appears to not have a problem. Feedback is caused by RF (radio frequency waves) in the environment. We suggest looking for the leak, and/or repositioning the antennas to be futher apart.

Best regards.

Using an older motorola two-way mobile radio with

Rule of thumb: Height and placement of the antenna determines the range. If your FCC license allows, raise the antenna.

As for types of antennas, there are a variety depending on the situation. (Too many to list.) Common would be Unity Gain (aka quarterwave), 3db gain and 5 db gain. Each has their own advantages according to placement and terrian. Talke to your local radio professional or call one of the experienced online companies to get some advice according to your particular situation.

Lastly, be certain your antenna is tuned to the frequency you are using. This alone can add range to your radio.

I can't xmit or receive on CB channels: Wx channels come in OK. I had a bad WalMart Special mobile antenna which shorted out because of corrosion. Now have a Diesel 15 inch mobile with tunable SWR tip....

If try another mic and see if problem is still
there then you have half of the problem, the
TX an RX all go through the mic if mic good
you will have to go inside of the unit.
Good Luck

I installed a Grant XL SSB/AM mobile radio in my vehicle and it has power but nothing else. I usually have background noise, but nothing. The radio was removed from my vehicle for about 4 months and then...

Honestly I think we've all had this happen. Normally its the obvious things...first thing I would do is check the mic. If the mic is bad then you won't hear anything. Happened to me and I checked everything....then a friend grabbed his mic and it worked perfectly. If its not that I'd check the coax cable....or possibly the mount for your antenna. If you took the mount down from the last use, did you put the nylon spacer to isolate the antenna from the mount? Its not the radio, its more than likely just something you overlooked....Keep me posted on your progress! Good Luck!

2 way radios

Your radio with model number M33GMC09C2AA is a GM300 made for Central Asia, Eastern Europe and Turkey. It is VHF 25 watt with 12.5 channel spacing. It will do frequencies between 146-174 MHz. It should be able to be "read out" by a Motorola dealer. If it has been in a boat, it most likely is programmed with Marine frequencies. If you have another marine radio you may be able to determine the frequency by process of elimination.

The wiring kit for power is readily available for around $18 ea. If your boat has a marine VHF antenna onboard, you will be able to attach the antenna to this radio. It takes a mini-PL connector.

Motorola GM300 Question

Check your antenna connections and coax for loose connections or damage. Also check your hand mic. See if the problem disappears if you turn on the radio without the mic attached. The two most common problems with a mobile radio are antenna and mic problems.

If you feel these are in order, it would be wise to have a tech look at the radio.
