Check to see if the raised pin on the fly wheel has has broke off. to do that you, take out the position sensor on the bell housing & look on the flywheel to see if it is there. your have to manually turn the engine whale somebody else looks to see if the pin is still there. if it is not. where it is suppose to be, just put a sheet metal screw in its place. by taking a long drill bit and drilling it out to put the screw. try and see if that's the problem

BMW e46 won't start because of the alarm.

Hi, if the car stay for long time the computer box lost memory. Now is not reading the key. You need to program your key again by BMW manufacturer. Also on bmw the alarm is connected to computer box too.

1986 bmw 325e starts and runs fine for about 5-10 minutes, then starts dieseling and dies. wont start for 5-10 minutes, and then will start fine.

I would suggest you check the fuel filter or fuel supply to the engine as it may be a venting problem of a clogged fuel filter.
Cheers

Car wont start, fuel line makes sputtering noise

I have a 1986 325e with high mileage 275,000. Car starts fine and idles ok. I'm experiencing an intermittent problem where when placed in drive the car will sputter, lightly backfire, and not move forward until i pump the gas and give it time to correct whatever is not operating properly. Then it runs just fine. I'm thinking it's an air or fuel issue. Just recently tuned up the car and put some bgk44 after the problem started but still experiencing the same problem.
