Question about Toshiba MW27F51 27 in. TV/VCR/DVD Combo

2 Answers

Toshiba MW27F51 We have had this television for about 2 years...it is still under warranty. The other day the picture began to flicker. We thought that maybe it was the cable, but after turning that off, we realized that it was the actual tv. Is this common in this tv and could there be a wire loose? It's a pretty annoying problem. Any help would be great! Thanks

If it is still under Warranty, take it to an ASC for repair.

There could be a number of reasons for that. The High Voltage (Flyback) could be loose or going bad. only and experienced tech wouls wanna go in there because of the high voltage that needs to be discharged. Or a cracked circuit board or cold solder connection could cause this.

I have a Toshiba TV/DVD/VCR combo model # MW27F51-had it for a couple of years. Turned it on, have sound but no picture. I have the cover off the back of it now.

sound like a defective part inside the set. i could tell you what one went bad, this is not user servicable, and could shock you bad. i would take it for service or get a new one. due to the cost of these against the cost of repair.rule of electronics-if the cost of repair is 60% of a new one you should not repair it. good luck! hope this helps!

11 years old, you may need a new one, as service can be costly. if the cost of repair is more tha 60% of a new one, get the new one. the fact it is 11years old, makes this an easy choice. good luck.hope this helps..

Is your TV the Toshiba 52hm95? I had a similar problem but my TV went out completely. I had a service tech out this morning..it was my light engine and will be $900.00 to 1000.00 to fix. I hope that's not your problem too...Toshiba said they have had no other reports of such a problem with this particular tv.

Dim screen...

it could be the ballast lamp, or it could be the optical engine, can you see in the rear of the TV if you can see if the ballast lamp is lit up. usually you need to unplug the ev and remove the rear cover or at least the vant over it to see if it is lit. If it is dead replacement is usually covered under warranty, within a year or so otherwise they cost around 200-300 dollars. If not, then the Optical engine is probably having problems and I would suggest replacing it if under warranty.
