Need more info. Is this a reload on an old PC, or are you trying ME on a new PC, and what specifically is the pc?

Emachine T5062 desktop powers down when windows starts to load. Any suggestions as to what the problem might be?

it sounds like 1 of 2 things.
1. the machine is overheating. This usually happends if the machine is relatively old, open the cabinet side (usually the left one when facing the front) and see if there is a dust layer on the grill behind the vertical fan facing the open side. if there is, take a cue-tip and clean it. Gently.
2. its a software malfunction, reboot the machine and tap the f8 key untill a windows start menu appears, then select the repair option, run a startup repair from the following window and try to reboot again

I can not instal w 7 in dell optiplex gx620 please help me

Things that you can try:

1. Restart the PC. Once the dell post screen comes up. Immediately press F12 (Keep pressing F12 key while starting up).
2. Boot Menu will come up on the screen. Make sure your win 7 disc is inside the cd tray.
3. Select your DVD drive and press enter.
4. A message will come up that says "Press any key to continue" press enter key real quick.
5. The win 7 installation should load.

Good Luck.

Os instalation will not load

Hi Dobssand, the most common reason for a CD-ROM (With a Windows CD in it) does not start to load is the motherboard's bios is not set correctly. While in the bios go to the title Boot & enter boot order. This is a common boot order for a PC.
1st boot device = [Floppy disk drive]
2nd boot device = [CD-ROM drive] (Model number of the CD-ROM drive).
3rd boot device = [Primary Hard Disk Drive] (Model number of drive).

Second most common reason is the data cable to the CD-ROM drive is loose or not fully connected either at the CD-ROM or at the motherboard. (Check it).
If you choose not to enter your bios, you can still get the CD-ROM drive to boot the Win CD in this fashion. Load the Win CD into the CD-ROM drive. Power off the system. Than power on the system & start to press the F8 key once every two seconds. Windows "Please select boot device:" window will open. Using your keyboards up & down arrow keys high-light the CD-ROM drive that has the win CD in it & press the enter key. Windows should start to load. If you receive an error message stating windows can not find your hard disk drive. Than you must enter your bios & go to the title Boot. Your hard disk drive is not listed in the boot order section. Worst case! Your hard disk drive may be faulty. Find the manufactures name printed on a large white sticker on once side of the HDD. Go to the manufactures web site & download their drive setup software so you can create a bootable floppy disk. This will allow you to check/test the HDD & format it for a windows installation.

Or is this not the issue you are having?

Good luck!
Mike

I am trying to load win me on a clean hard/d about 130 gb it start very good it take lic key # and it gos nicely then it stop and say it can not load it mes sud 325what can i do ...

This may not work, been a long time since I dealt with ME, but I do know that both ME and XP originally had Partition limit sizes below 130 GB. I think XP original partition limit was around 96 GB and I'm almost certain that ME's would have been less then XPs.
So my recommendation to start out with would be to partition your hard drive into 40 GB partitions before attempting the install of ME and make sure your partitions are formatted into FAT32 partitions as FAT32 was the scheme that ME was developed for and most used on.
Don't be afraid to partition to 20 GBs if the 40GB doesn't work. Partitioning serves a lot of useful purposes and should be used much more then it is as this one trick alone as done more to save data on a computer then probably any other trick around. Luckily for everyone virii/trojans/malware, tend to attack the C: partition where the active OS installation lies. Well over 90% of the time any data located on partitions other then the C: partition is recoverable even after a major crash caused by conflicting softwares or malevalent softwares.

Want to downgrade from windows Vista to Windows XP

Hi ginger,
Suggest you back up you're personal data to either a CD/DVD or mem stick.
Windows in general will not allow you to downgrade. It does not matter what version you have. If you put your windows CD in your CD-ROM & boot the Win XP CD you will have to format the hard drive. Only than will windows XP install. Everything on your PC will be erased. If you’re sure this is what you want than put your Win XP CD into your CD-ROM & restart your PC. You should see; to boot to the CD press any key...... (Press the space bar). Win XP should start to load. If windows does not start to load, restart your PC & press the F8 key every two seconds. This should bring up a boot menu, use your up & down arrow keys & highlight the CD-ROM drive than press enter. Windows will begin to install. Choose format when shown on your screen. If you choose to re-install windows you will end up with double folders & that is no fun.

Good Luck!
If I can be of more service, just post back & let me know how thing went.

Hi ive just put together a compaq armada 1520 yes old i know think the hdd i put in is 1.4gb or 1.3 it has 16mb onboard memory and a 32mb stick added and ive just attempted to install windows xp pro sp2...

Id def try a bigger hard drive, chances are your processor, ram and hard drive arent good enough for xp, or if possible try to instal win 98 just to rule out other hardware problens, i really think that the pc is not going to handle xp very well to be honest.

I need to know a few things first: Computer make and model, mouse make and model, and operating system. Also, do you mean it won't POST, or won't load the OS?

Thanks,

PC is frozen when I press WIN-key

Do you see the Hard Disk Light ON during the time your computer is frozen? If that is the case there maybe an issue with the Hard Disk Controller.

When you installed a new version of Windows XP, did you format your entire Hard disk? (Just to make sure that your computer doesn't have a viral infection?)

Also, is it that the computer freezes when you press Alt+Enter ...or is it like the computer freezes after you press the Windows Key and then Alt+Enter?

Have you tried the Alt+Tab Combination?

Really disappointed with dual core

You can buy a 3.02 pentium 4 processor and need not change any thing else. On the other hand try changing your hard disk with a one with smaller capacity such as 80 GB make it primary with the windows partition not exceeding 15 GB . Make this drive (80 GB )primary and other one secondary.Increase the virtual memory size of your system and for sure you wont need to buy any thing or be depressed anymore.

I have Problem With My HD...?

this message normally appears when trying to format the partition by right clicking on it, but it maybe a downloaded file or a file that is running so try starting your pc up in safe mode (F8 on boot up)so as there are no drivers or unimportant programmes running and try deleting the files again.
