What is your guess at repair cost for this, is it worth it for a 5 year old video camera. Also, what kind of place repairs these....Circuit City or Rex?

Repair/Clean Blu-ray, Xbox, PS2, DVD and CD media with e-Care Cleaning Kit

I have tried Dr.Skip leaves radial lines on the DVD and many others that require a manual crack handle to repair my media but none has come close to the Professional CD/DVD Scratch Repairer (listed as Xbox and Blu-ray Repair Kit) ORDER CODE A19JL designed and built by procare + e|care for Maplin Electronics UK Ltd

Each pair of the Buffing, Repairing or Cleaning pads can be used at least 50 times before they require replacement this kit cost about £5 and comes with replacement repair and cleaning fluid.

It will repair 99% or all non-readable media and costs around £30 and it well worth the money, if you buy before the 23rd March 2010 you will get it for better than half price at £14.99.

I have had a 95% sucess rate will all my DVD-Video media that my 4 year old son watches (scratches) that used to cause the media to restart at different parts of the movie.

I have also used Fully Licenced Elaborate-Bytes and Slysoft's excellent backup software for his most frequently watched movies on to DVD-R recordable media for the most heavily scratched media so it doesn't happen again, these cost around £50 and are also well worth the money, buy before 7th March 2010 and save 20% on all orders.

Go-Video VCR Problem with accepting/ejecting tapes

As with any VCR, there are rubber parts inside that have become slick. This is a simple repair for any shop. The mechanisms are Samsung ones if I remember correctly. Expect a parts cost between $20-$40. Add in the local labor rate for the total cost. This is worth the repair cost as any replacement would not last anywhere near as long. This is also a normal occurrance as rubber parts harden with age. I have repaired many of these over the years.

Just had the 2nd diagnosis for the error - "digital PCB" at a cost of £252 - BONKERS! Have e-mailed JVC to see if they can make the cost of the repair reasonable, got a positive reply they want me to send my proof of purchase, serial no etc. & they'll consider dropping the cost significantly. On top of that just found same model on ebay, ex display £130. baught it, was prepaired to pay upto same for the repair - gunna swap HDD for mine when it arrives, the stuff on there was the main reason i wanted it repaired. Still gunna try to get mine fixed for nowt though through JVC! May as well try for nothing!
