BUT LAST WEEK ON HOLIDAY I WENT TO TAKE A PIC AND LOOKED DOWN AT THE SCREEN AND ONLY HALF THE PIC WAS SHOWING SOMETHING BLACK WAS COVERING THE SCREEN DIAGONALLY, I ZOOMED IN AND OUT AND IT CLEARED A FEW TIMES BUT IT IS STILL THERE EVERY TIME YOU TURN THE CAMERA ON, PLEASE CAN YOU HELP, OR SHOULD I TAKE IT TO A REPAIR SHOP. Firstly, is it necessary to shout ?

As you surmise, it needs attention - however, since it was secondhand, the cost of repair may well outweigh the cost of replacement. How long a warranty did you get when you purchased it ?

SOURCE: stopped taking pictures . . .

When previous pictures display fine but does not take new one directs the problem to camera mode problem. Some component is at fault in the main board which controls menu functions and display is damaged. For the solution, the main board is repaired or replaced by technician. The repair cost may run between $100 to $200 in US.

My camera was under warranty for parts only but labor was $100 by Nikon i guessed better than throwing away should try to fix it, i am just done fixing mine, heres what i have to share: 1 you gotta open it up, it comes off pretty simply. the lens mechanism and the circuitry is totally separate. 2. take the lens mechanism, there are three tiny screws at the bottom going into the plastic. remove these. 3. remove the black protective tape and very gently try to separate the joined plastic parts. 4 it will open up, in three separate portions, in one of them near the aperture shutters (sliding irregular shaped thin plastic pieces) there will be arc shaped pathway for a shutter make sure that this open and you can see across to the other chamber, just slide it with a pin (it only slides one side) to one side and it locks and stays in a corner. You have to be gentle, patient and comfortable with openining and closing circuitry and small components. you would need a philips 0 and a tweezwer for this.

SOURCE: Coolpix S210 Lens Error

Mine did this. I assume the lens won't pop up as it normally did?

To fix mine, I wedged a small screwdriver into the lens and then turned it on, gently nudging the lens out. It worked great and I haven't had the issue again yet.

Just a little help is all it likely needs to pop that lens out.

Mum returned from overseas has s520 Nikon Coolpix.Last 8 days holiday pictures completely blurred. Now&again one clear out of over 100. Photos prior to particular date perfect.

Possibly the front element of the lens has become contaminated with some foreign substance and requires cleaning. Otherwise, sounds like a trip to repair facility. If it is still under warranty, contact Nikon direct.

Take the card to a store that has a Kodak picture maker kiosk (like Walmart). Your pictures should show up and you can print them or even make a cd. After you do that, format the card in the camera before using it again.

You said that the pictures on your computer looks perfect. It just that when you print them out, the color came too strong. Well i think it is with the printer and its color separation that has the problem and not the camera. When you see those pics from the camera, do they show the strong colors? If not, and they appear with excellent colors, then there is no problem.

Press left on the multiselector (marked with a one-handed clock). Once the self-timer has been selected, you start it by pressing the shutter release button.
