Question about Canon PowerShot SD600 Digital Camera

Lens error, restart camera ( haven't had it a full summer)

I read all the posts and the 7 suggested tips on how to fix the lens error, but no good. I don't understand how it just randomly started to have this problem since, I was on vacation, put my camera on my bed before dinner, left and at that point it was working fine. I came back from dinner and tried to turn it on, :( and .. boom. Lens error. I'm pretty bummed since my dad bought me this camera at the beggining of the summer and I tried to take good care of it. He however didnt buy it new, therefor.. no warranty. I'm wondering if it's even worth sending it in since my friend has a canon and has had to send hers in multiple times. Help would be appreciated, xotarynamber@yahoo.com. thanks!

Well thank you very much for helping, thats acually really helpful considering the fact I'm about to leave in an hour to take it in to a shop.. However, It's not the dreaded E-18 error just the "Lens error, restart camera". I guess they're both two of the same though huh? Haha, Thanks again! I'll look in to your website.

I have canon SX 100 IS PowerShot and facing the error Lens Error Restart Camera. Please solve the problem.

The lens error indicates that the movement is inhibited possibly by sand or grit. It also may be misaligned or an internal component has failed. Here are a few links to some other things to try. With newer cameras I am usually hesitant to suggest these options since they include some more extreme procedures that may cause further damage if not done correctly, but since yours is probably no longer under warranty, they may save you an expensive repair bill. An older Canon camera is used to demonstrate these procedures but, the lens structure of these compact cameras is the same so the examples do apply to this unit. These procedures are effective about 60% of the time. Click on or copy and paste the links into your browser.

Lens does not fully extend so screen is blurry. Then I get a Lens error, restart camera message.
