Question about Aloha Housewares (93645) Ceiling Fan

1 Answer

Ceiling fan lights won't work

We have a ceiling fan with 3 lights and 4 blades. The fan works just fine, however all three lights went out at the same time. It's not the light bulbs, we of course checked that first thing. We took it apart and all the wiring looks right. any ideas what's wrong so we don't have to buy anything new?

Thank you.

Possibly, your switch has a short in it.Outside of that, it may be a broken wire somewhere. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Signs of a bad capacitor in a ceiling fan include:

  • Fan runs slowly or not at all on all speeds
  • Fan will not start but will spin if started by hand
  • Certain speeds are slow or do not work
  • The motor hums and turns freely by hand but will not spin

The capacitor is usually a black box inside the switch housing of the fan. If this box appears burnt or melted in any way, that is also the sign of a bad capacitor and it should be replaced.

Can you hear the motor run even though the blades are not turning? If so, the manifold/flywheel may be bad and perhaps have broken away from the motor shaft.

Do the blades spin freely? If not, something may have fallen into the motor, jamming the blades. That would cause this. Also, make sure there is a good connection at the wire that feeds power to the fan motor (usually black, blue is the light) Good luck.
