Question about PC Desktops
I get freeze ups and unexpected shut downs with my Dell Dimension L933r w/Windows XP Pro installed. I get a message from Microsoft that the Video graphics card is bad or the drivers need to be updated. When directed to the site for updated drivers, I am offered an older driver than what is installed. I'm thinking the easy fix would be to replace the graphics card but am unable to determine which motherboard I have to get a compatible card and drivers. Any help would be much appreciated . . . Tom
If you need help determining the type of card you will need for your motherboard visit www.bustype.com and make note of the slots , colors, size , and shape.
Then open up the side panel of your tower and compare it to the pictures you saw.
Another thing - You will want to call dell and find out what your power supply is rated at wattage wise. It might or might not be listed on the supply unit itself. It sounds like you are just using your computer for casual use and not gaming, so please do not go and get something overkill just to fix the problem as its expensive in the end :)
The reason why you want to know the wattage is because certain cards perfom a lot better when you have better wattage power supply.
