New installation - clicks on wash cycle but no wash

We just installed an FDB1050REM2 Fridgidaire Precisionselect dishwasher. On the wash cycles, it fills with water and then just clicks but does not wash or spray. When canceled it will empty the water. The washer was in storage for a year before being installed.

My dishwasher is installed, but it won't go past the "washing" cycle. I have very hot water and am not using the "sanitize" option. Any ideas what could be causing this?

Hi, I have ideas about your dishwasher. It apparently has a failed timer.
If this is a new dishwasher installation of a new machine. Then it is defective and is covered under the manufacturer's warranty.
The hot water issue is fine. A dishwasher's internal water temperature should be at least 140 degrees, so the machine will heat up water to accomplish this.
I would cancel the cycle the machine is in test it in various cycles.
I would try it in sanitize as well. If it completes the full cycle. Then use it.
However, if it hangs up again. I will need a new timer mechanism.
Hope this helps. If you have any questions at all, reply to me through this website.
Best Regards,
Mark

We just installed a new kenmore dishwasher yesterday. Model 13242 It has been running for almost2 hours and is still on the washing cycle--no water in it however--is this normal? I'm in a bit of a panic as...

THAT IS NOT NORMAL!!!!!!! A normal wash and dry cycle will take approx. 2 hours in length including drying cycle.
You should see that water has been present in the machine within the first 2 minutes of the start of the wash cycle, you should also be able to hear the water entering the wash tub.
The fill valve or water supply seems to be the issue, if the water doesn't enter the tub then the controller won't proceed witht the wash cycle. Double check your water supply tube / hose to make sure there is water present at the connection to the dishwasher.
GOOD LUCK !

Whirlpool Dishwasher GU3600XTSB 3 - 4 hours to complete washing

Wash time is determined by the cycle you select, the incoming water temperature and the installation location. The new machines will heat the water to a predetermined temperature and it takes roughly 1 minute for each degree of rise, If the incoming water is at 120 deg and the wash cycle wants 165 than it will take 45 minutes just for that one cycle to complete, Factor in an outside wall with poor insulation or lower water temperature and it could take even longer. They weren't lyin', with the new improved energy effeciency and cleaning units they using more "soaking" times to losen food particles to use less water and clean better. And that they deffinitly do versus old units and they save more energy by doing this also. On some makes and models theywill have cycles that still use less time but also will then use some more water during this cycle. My SEARS store "blue crew" did research and found out this cycle for me.

Problem starting fridgidaire model FDB1050REC2

hello kwill8
welcome to Fixya.

You said, You just installed the dishwasher and the only cycle it will go through is the rinse cycle. When You turn the dial to any of the other cycles:pots&pans, normal, light wash and upper rack, the start button as well as the heat dry button and the high temp button do not work. only button that will light up when pressed is the delay button. How can you fix this?

Is this your model FDB1050REC2This is a brand new model and you said you just installed it!
If it is brand new!
You do not have to fix it.
You have a full years warranty, parts and labor!let them fix it no cost to you.
The first thing they will do, . You can do your self!

Go to the breaker and turn it off for 5 minutes and then on again. This should reset the system and this usually is the end to most bad starts!

try it!

Will not start wash cycle

The circuit boards on these types of units are kind of finicky. If there is any seepage of the steam generated by washing that gets into the door skin, then it can toast a circuit in no time flat. It is more than likely the momentary switch but the only way to find out is to remove the inner skin, pull the board, and look for toasted components and check continuity through said switch.
