Woke up this morning and tv will not turn on. Red light just stays lit. I've been doing the unplugging and plugging for months now. Blamed it on my kids PS3 but after reading this site, it's just a crappy TV. I've owned the TV for over 2 years now and no warranty. Called Wal-Mart and the KID said the light bulb was burned out????? Whatever!!!! Any other ideas to get it to come on besides going out and buying another tv?

I've had mine for a little over 2 years too. The standby light is on, but the picture is not coming on. I'm currently having mine repaired at a TV repair shop. I am aware of the problems with this  tv. I've been trying to go through the proper channels, but the number that customer support gives you has no answer. It was a great tv, until this happened. After reading evryone else's horror stories, I'll never buy store brand again. I'll keep updates to my situation.

Just heard back from my repair man. Fortunately, my power supply was okay. Also, he found the parts locally. Although it will cost me 113.27 to have it repaired, it will get me by until I can buy a new and better hdtv. I wish I could have had it repaired by a manufacturer, but there is no one that you can contact. This has been an adsolute nightmare. Best of luck to everyone else.

tv does not come on, but it clicks like it want to.

  • brian_0 Apr 19, 2009

my lct32ha36 will not power on. I opened it up to look at the power supply board. I couldnt find any suspicious looking caps or burnt areas as another poster suggested. I disconnected the output connectors of the supply to see if it would put out any voltages. It did not. In most supplies like this, they put out a standby voltage so the TV can respond to the remote. I did not see that either. The fuses in the supply are not blown. My supply is a VP210UG01. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement supply or have just the supply, not the whole TV, repaired? Or does anyone have any additional tips on how I might repair it myself?

  • duboy1 Apr 20, 2009

I have the same exact problem as brian_0. Any solutions for it yet? My caps all look fine, i even replaced three that people suggested but it didnt make a difference. My onboard light does not stay on.... It momentarily flickers on when i plug the tv in.

  • brian_0 May 11, 2010

Timezone88: What is the model of the ILO power supply you were able to fix? Is it the VP210UG01, or one of the MLT series? Does it have 5 connectors at the top of the supply, one for 24v, one for 12v and 9v, another for 24v, one for 5v, and finally one for 5v standby and on/off? What I would really like to find out, if I cannot find a replacement VP210 series, would a MLT series work in my TV.

Sirjosh0820: What did your TV repairman say was wrong with your set?

Same thing happened to my ilo. There are four capacitors that are bad on the power board. You can usually tell its bad because at the top it bulges out. Here is what you need to do. Unplug the tv, open up your ilo find the power board ( the power cord plugs into it). Then find the capacitors that are bad (they are the around things usually in blue color) and remove them by soldering the other side. On mine there where three 1000uf 16v and one 470uf 35v. Those are the ones that need replacing. I replaced them with a higher voltage rating 1000uf 35v and 470uf 50v. All you need to do is solder them back on but make sure you solder them back the right way (plus goes to plus on the board or you will be in trouble). I found the capacitors at radio shack for about 1.50 a peice. If you dont know how to solder look it up on youtube. If that does not work there might be couple more bad capacitors that need replaceing just need to find them and you can tell by a small bulging top.

If there are no bad caps and you are not getting any voltage then it might be a bad transformer. Check it to see if it has any burn marks inside the coil.

  • timezone88 Jun 21, 2009

brian_0 if the power supply provides the same voltage and current then you should be able to use any power supply. but you should first check if there is something really wrong with your power supply. Just check the voltage on out put and see if it matches what the label there. If it does not then its the power supply. if the the voltage matches with the lables then it the circut board that controlls the power supply. I dont really remember the supply board that i had so i cant really tell you sorry. if you need some more help email me at

Lost Remote Control? Here's a way to help.

So you have lost, or, your remote doesn't work? You can't "Do anything" without it.... Right.... NO Wrong... ALL TV sets have a number, usually about 5 - 6, "Buttons" on the side, front, somewhere. usually close to the "Power ON" switch. Now these "Buttons" will perform nearly all, if not all, of the main functions of your "Remote" They WILL be marked, MENU, +, -, <, >, & OK or ENTER. Now you simply have to depress each button to access the "Functions" you want. One button WILL control the "Function" say Channel, and the <, >, will Go UP & DOWN. This is the same for everything. So one button will make it, say go UP, another will make it,say, go DOWN. Repeated presses on the "Function" Button will scroll through the "Functions" IE: Channel, Brightness/Contrast, Selecting Inputs, once "Selected" another "Button" will move the "Selector" through to the Bottom & another will scroll it back Up, sometimes the ONE button will simply continuously scroll "right around" Of course have a look in your manual... you know that paper thing you shoved away in the cupboard... This will explain it all. ALL TV's and devices that use a "Remote" are ALWAYS able to "Control" the MAIN functions of the unit, via keys on the actual unit itself. So don't despair, just spend a bit of time learning your "Buttons" that way even if the "Remote" does go walkabout, or the batteries go flat, or it just stops working.. well now you can still have complete control.. the only draw back is you will have to get put of your seat to do it. A small price to pay?

My controller for my Insignia tv works but not the buttons on the tv itself

The buttons and the remote actually go to the same place inside the set.

I would suspect one of two things is wrong:

The set (owner manual?) may have a keyboard lockout feature set with the remote by accident.

The keyboard may be unplugged or not connected inside.

Better hope it is one of these as if not the set has a problem on the line inside from the keyboard to the microprocessor unit in the set.

Is there a way to turn on tv without remote 42fd9932/17g

There should be a power button on the bottom right side of the 42fd9932/17g. If there is a signal with a compatible resolution coming into the TV on the current input when you turn it on, it should display that signal. Otherwise, it will go into a power-saving mode and you will need to press the power button again.

As far as I know, there is no child lock that would stop this power button from working.

The manual is available here: .

I hope this helps. If you do need a replacement remote (for example the unit was designed for a waiting room and thus doesn't have the power button), an exact replacement remote is available here: . Most universal remotes should work if they were programmed 6 months or more after the TV was released. However, the low end ones may not match some of the features of the original and you may need to try several codes to get all of the features to work.

This is a crazy question but I have a Dynex DX-L32-10C. I like it fine, no complaints, but tonight I lost the remote and realized this unit does not appear to have any on/off buttons. I did eventually...

Try looking at the bottom of the left side of the TV for control buttons. The on/off button would be at the bottom of the group. The manual for the similar DX-L32-10A is available online as a PDF at the Dynex support site: .

I hope this helps.

(other TVs have the on/off button on the top or the right side; a few have buttons touched under the front of the monitor. It's worth checking. Very few TVs do not have a power button on the TV.)

need replaced A-BOARD
Manufacturer Panasonic Part Number TNPH0716ABS Description A- BOARD

After the installation of a new A board, unit has the characters "CHK" on screen. The usual reset procedures of [VOL -] and [MENU] or [OK] or [SLEEP] will not get rid of "CHK".

1. Enter the service mode by holding down the [VOL -] button on the TV (main unit) and simultaneously pressing the [INFO] button on the remote control three times.
2. Press the number [2] key on the remote to highlight [SRV-TOOL].
3. Press the [OK] button on the remote control to select [SRV-TOOL].
4. Use the [DOWN ARROW] on the remote control to scroll down to [PCTC].
5. Use the [RIGHT ARROW] button on the remote to open the box to the right, then press and hold down the [MUTE] button on remote to display Time/Count.
6. Press and hold the [RETURN] button on the remote control until the TV turns off.
7. Immediately press and hold down the [VOL -] button on the TV (main unit) and the [MENU] button on the remote. The TV should come up in the Self Check mode.
8. Remove AC power.

My brandnew Pioneer PDP-5020FD won't turn on.

Check page 9 of this document:

You will see that there is a power button on the bottom right corner of the back of the unit (item 25). Turn the unit on using that first.
