Attach hose with out power head to the rear of unit and turn unit on. This is a pretty effective way of eliminating anything that may be in hose. Also check belt on power head. P.S don't forget to put rear cover back on rainbow,

You need to replace the belt. You can get replacement belts here:

The belt that drives the brush roll has broken. That's why it doesn't pick up and why it doesn't pull itself forwards. Check the User Manual (download from Hoover website if necessary) for information on replacing the belt. Good luck!

The reason it is not picking up is probably because the belt is stretched, worn or broken and is not turning the brush the way it should and therefore not picking anything up. check the container lock and lid to make sure that they are installed properly. filter could be plugged.

Check the belt and then the tube on the side of the vacuum that runs from the bottom to up the side to the bag. If they belt is broken the vacuum will not pick anything up. If that tube is clogged up with dirt that will keep the vacuum from picking up as well.

Its sounds like the brushes aren't turning. Pull the vacuum and bin off the back and start it and look to see if the brushes are turning.

It sounds like the machine is clogged. Check the port behind the belt and any and all hoses for obstructions and remove.
