Can I get a GPS signal in Malta? I have a Tom Tom 700

Route will not plan until the GPS is locked.
Soft reset on the button underneath for 30 seconds will reset the GPS receiver on a 700.
Then wait upto 4 minutes for a refreshed lock after power up

Hello everyone. I bought garmin nuvi 750 GPS six months ago. I use it travelling all over and it works pretty good. But I dont know how could i find alternate route for same destination. For eg. I want to...

What you're looking for is called "Via Points" as your friend correctly suggested. From the Garmin Nuvi 750 web based information:

nüvi 750 includes advanced navigational features to take the worry out of traveling. With route planning you can save 10 routes, specify via points and preview simulated turns on the 750's wide screen. In addition, nüvi 750 automatically sorts multiple destinations to provide an efficient route for errands, deliveries or sales calls.

"Alternate routes" are those routes that are created when the nuvi is used with a traffic receiver (FM or MSDN). This allows for a new route to be created with the traffic data so that routes suffering congestion, etc. are avoided. Some people also refer to the routes created when a turn is missed (the GPS indicates "Recalculating") as an "alternate route" but it is not.

Good luck!

Keeps recalculating route and rerouting

This may or may not help you.  If you are in area where the unit cannot get a signal it will tell you recalculating or if you are in area where it's maps are not up to date it may tell you the same thing. One other possible solution, shorten the trip, on a long trip the unit will/might find several possible routes and based on your settings it is unable to select just one route so it is choosing between two at the same time and it will keep recalculating until circumstances allow it to decide on just the ONE route.  Change some of your settings in the setup screen and see if that helps or if it is a long trip, break the trip up into smaller segmants. Hope this helps

How do i get tomtom to reculate routre

Turn the GPS on. Tap on the LOWER RIGHT square of the main screen. Then tap on the "FIND ALTERNATIVE ROUTE" button. One of the options should be "recalculate route"

By the way, a TomTom GPS will automatically recalculate the route if you make a wrong turn or if you go past a street you should have taken.

How do you get out of a route that is programmed

Most GPS devices (All Garmins) have a "cancel routing" or "Stop Current Route" button on the menu. I have a menu page that offers - recalculation, cancel or Add a route. You should too!

The TOM TOM One manual says

Start-up preferences
This button may only be available if all menu options are shown. To show all
menu options, tap Show ALL menu options.
For more information, see Hidden buttons and features on page29.
Tap this button to set what your ONE should do when you first switch it on. The
following options are available:

Continue where I left off - your ONE starts as it was when you switched it off.
Start-up

Ask for a destination - your ONE starts with Navigate to... menu. You can enter
preferences

Keeps displaying cannot get valid gps signal was working fine last week now does not work

i work as a truck driver on a small fleet of 7 vehicles in the midlands UK

3 of us have Tom Toms, the others have medion, navman or garmin.

ALL the tom tom users have been experiencing GPS problems this week ( june 21 onwards ) whilst the rest of us have seen no change in GPS satelite availability.

In addition, a friend who uses a TOM TOM One XL in another part of the UK has also had same problems.

Its a TOM TOM problem generally it seems, and NOT your particular piece of kit.

No GPS Signal in TomTom One XL all of a sudden

I suddenly lost the GPS signal today and could not get it back. All I got was the "No valid GPS signal". My solution was to tap on the GPS satellite bars when in the route map. this brought up the "Status summary page of the TOMTOM.

I then again tapped the satellite bar which brought up the "GPS Status" page. I then tapped the bar labeled "configure".

The radio button next to the option titled "Minutes (dm.m') was selected. I then moved the selection to "Degrees (d.d) and it started working.

I had just downloaded the GPS fix 5 days ago so it is not like this suddenly caused it to stop working.

This may not work for everyone but this is what it took to get mine working.

Cheers
