Steamer on gaggia titanium

When i turn the steamer on, i can hear a sound as if water vapor is building up inside the unit and the lcd screen will appear to turn purple, as if it is being contaminated with water; the steamer works, but poorly

Machine functions as if steam is being produced however this is condensing back into water and escaping into the drip tray. Also when hot water is requested this doesn't make it to the nozzle and fills the drip tray.

Machine only descaled a month or so ago, and a pipe cleaner up the nozzle has failed to make any difference.

I have the same problem with my titanium. Poor steaming, water finding its way into the drip tray (and beyond) and a noise like water/steam being forced through a small hole.

Turns out the problem is just that. within the "tap" which is inside the machine, in line with the steam wand hose, sited at the top right of the machine, there are one or more rubber o-rings which have deteriorated and are passing water. Poor build quality for such a crucial component on an expensive machine.

I haven't fixed the problem yet but would like to share my findings as it seems common to this model.

A. Possible air in the system. Switch to hot water iso steam, let warm water pas for a minute by turning the knob fully open. Stop tapping warm water (close the knob) and switch the machine to steam iso water. Try to get the steam by fully opening the knob (pump should start running).
b. Solidified milk in the system blocking internal tubes. To avoid this always purge the system (shortly open the steam to an empty cup or a towel) after you steamed milk to avoid milk being sucked back into the system due to condensation of steam (this creates a vacuum and reverse flow). To resolve the blocked tubing: clean the nozzle and try flushing the system (tapping warm water).

Can't prime water circuit. Sounds that the water can't even come out to the cup.

There may be a disconnected or pinched silicone hose restricting the water flow inside the machine. The pump may also be defective even if you hear it running.

Try taking the brew unit out, and clean the area inside the machine for coffee grains before reinserting it. There's a tiny sensor for if the unit is inserted, but it can be confused if the machine gets messy inside.

Gaggia Titanium Espresso machine problem: steam venting into inside compartment after pulling espresso shots.

Normal, depending on the amount, when the hot water goes through the coffee and the pressure builds up the excess has to go somewhere when it stops, usually the drain tray, so there is a little steam loss.

Will grind the coffee beans but no water passing

Either the grind is too fine or the brew unit is blocked at the screen.

Had exact same problem (same two buttons worked). One of two button connection ribbons (wires) had disconnected inside the electronic box in machine. Simple was is to remove the top, open electronic box, reconnect grey ribbon (back left for me), and electronic tape onto connectors. Just did this, all worked for me.

No hot water or steam from wand.

If steam wand is not blocked then the problem is on the inside of the machine, try descaling the machine that might clear the blockage in the steam line.

Ventilate problem

need to go through menu to factory reset. This gets machine to ready. You now need to decalcify with a citric acid descaler, not vinegar. With the water tank filled with descaling solution go through the menu to rinse option and rinse machine. When finished rinse cycle and with remaining descaling solution push water button open side knob and rinse the steamer system with descaler.
