Good fun chasing this one down.... Died on the side of the road when my wife tried to lower the window. Would not restart. She could not raise the windows before she walked home. Car restarted 5hrs later, but died when my buddy hit the turn signal. Towed it home. Again no windows. Door locks would only unlock with the Ign. on, but worked normally ign. off. Window controls will only dim out the interior lights Ign. on or off. Seems like a bad ground. Oh yea No fuel PSI... and seat controls worked before the last restart, but dead now. Where the F is the ground for all these... Or is it the PCM? (black box behind the glove box?) I know it controls the door locks, but what else? Yea I need a service manual with a good wiring diagram. Any help would be great. were yours the same if so can you please help me give me the steps that you took to fix your problem thanks or email at [email protected] thankyou

This is a forum or social web site

We are at home like you, nothing more
than that,no ties to this site

I would suggest a corroded away fusible link,
is the cause of all your problems

Not the grounds your loosing, the feeds.

Work your way from the battery, till you get to
fusible links, may be in site on inner fender or
hiding in plastic conduit or tape

so just follow the positive connections until i find some corrosion

  • Anonymous Jul 04, 2011

You are working your way from the battery positive cable to the
starter, then on to fusible links or from the battery along any other
    wire leaving it,to fusible links

Your looking for small round fusible links that have basically
corroded wires & leaving you with a car with next to no positive
voltage to half your cars systems

What do you mean by fusible links an I checked the wires from the battery to the starter they are fine

I said starter, then on to fusible links, read what I said
Use the internet to learn what a fusible link is

SOURCE: '96 Delta 88, died when lowering window, one restart, dead now.

All I can suggest is to carefully check out the condition of all +12V power supply leads and ground connections, from the battery to the general power distribution bus at the fusebox.
Pay particular attention to battery terminal posts and any in line maxi power fuses/fusible links and associated connectors, terminals and connections.
Check you havent lost a ground connection between the battery, engine/transmission assy and the general body.
Also worth checking the alternator is working correctly, able to carry the normal running loads reliably. Battery terminal voltage should be approx 14 to 14.5V with engine running when headlights on, A/C blower motor running.
I assume the battery charge condition is ok when these problems occur.
Check electrical and physical condition of the actual Ignition/Accessory switch and associated steering column loom connectors.
Good Luck!

No engine light on? Sounds to me like the bumpy road may be knocking something loose. It would help to know if you have fuel pressure when the problem arises.

Truck stalls when on rough roads

The truck is probably stalling on rough roads because the fuel pump float is not staying on the surface of the gasoline in the tank. Therefore, it is taking on air and interrupting the flow of fuel temporarily. It may be sticking a little and operating too slowly.
The fuel pump is inside your gas tank but can be removed and replaced by you if you are skilled enough.

1988 Mazda rx7 window won't raise or lower

Its either the switch or the window regulator. They all 'live' on the passenger side by the way. I have had both replaced on passenger side over the years on my '88 convertible and guess what? Passenger side window decided not to go up today..down yes..up no so I hope its just a switch. She goes into the hospital Monday. Good luck with yours.

My daughters 2000 Saturn died while driving. When she tried to restart it nothing. Lights and radio come on but does nothing when turning key. When trying to remove it from the side of the road, we were...

Make sure battery has a full charge and connections all good. Does it start and run? Do the brake lites work? Usually, you step on the brake in order to shift. With some shift interlock systems there is a bypass button by the shifter, You press that button to shift into neutral with brake set. I don't know if this vehicle has that bypass button, you'll have to look.
If the vehicle is still sitting along side the road, call a tow truck, have them take it home or to a repair shop. It's no fun trying to work on a vehicle along side of a busy street.

My car wont start. I have replaced the starter, and tested both the altenator and battery and still wont start please help.

a car wont start if it doesn't have three main things #1. must have proper cranking amps and voltage (battery min. 12.5v, but should be 13v check with a digital voltmeter), cranking amps depends where you live: (Alaska or Arizona), you need more cold cranking amps in a colder climate. also very important.. all battery cable connections should be corrosion free and secured tightly.#2. fuel has to have proper clean fresh fuel, without moisture buildup and be the correct octane. Purchase some "Starter fluid" and have an assistant crank over the engine... if it starts, you have a fuel delivery problem. And If you use too high an octane you might have trouble with starting. Also you should have a new fuel filter every 30k , also check when you turn on your key to insure that you hear a humming sound coming from your fuel tank, this means that at least the fuel pump, the relay, and fuse are in working order, but doesn't necessarily mean that the pump is putting out the correct amount of fuel pressure, but if you hear a very loud humming noise we can assume that its probably in working order, next the car has to get an injector firing signal from your cars computer, it could be possible that the computer isn't commanding the injectors to fire,( very rare ), but is possible; or the injectors themselves have become clogged up..if so they will have to be serviced or replaced. #3. must have compression, as cars engines age, they tend to lose some compression, if you have two or more cylinders low on compression it would probably cause a starting problem, check your exhaust pipe, take your finger or use a white cloth and rub around the inside lip of the exhaust, is it wet/black? or dark goowy color?, well it Shouldnt be, this is a sign of possible worn piston rings.. if the color is light to dark brown then i would assume you have good compression. If the rings are worn then its also possible that the valve guides are also worn and when a car sits overnight the oil will drip past the valve guides and onto your spark plugs and foul them out, now take two different plugs out of your engine and perform another inspection, do they look wet and black? or just black? are the electrodes worn? do they need replacement? first thing i do when i have starting issues is replace plugs and wires, only if i havent changed them in awhile... and i clean the coils of corrosion and carbon tracking!! Just inspect the plugs, they never lie...if they dont look brown then put them down.
So if i was you, i would do the visual inspections first, because this could help narrow down the problem and save you a lot of troubleshooting hours.
If you found this helpful could you rate my answer, thanks

2003 new beetle top won't go up

Try resetting the pinch protection program. You do this by inserting the key into the drivers side door, turning to the right and holding untill the windows are fully raised. Then you turn to the left and hold untill the windows are fully lowered. This is supposed to reset the program.

Good luck.
