I have a JVC HR-XVC26U DVD/VCR and have a disc stuck in the DVD player side. How can I get it out?

Well what do you know? I also have a JVC HR-XVC26U with a disc stuck in the DVD side of the player and it won't come out. Can't pry open the door either. No one I call here in town will fix one of these either. The parts it seems, are too expensive. Better off to buy a new unit I'm told. Planned obsolescence by JVC? Hmmm.

This model is a DVD player not a DVD recorder. Only the VCR can record.

Component video quality is better then Composite Video (yellow wire)
Of course component cable hook up will improve picture quality.

SOURCE: poor picture when recorded on vcr

run a head cleaner through, a wet one is best and this should improve the quality of playback. Also check the condition of the vcr cassettes you are using, old ones do get worn out and leave dirt on the rollers and heads

Dvd side used to work but now when i put in a dvd it says NO DISC. I've tried several different dvds but still says the same thing. I have the HR-XVC25U

Hi

This is really strange. This summer my DVD side of my JVC Combo did the same thing. I went through the circuitry with a scope but I couldn't nail it down to one component. I called JVC about a new board but they wanted more than a new unit costs. They wouldn't tell me if this is a problem across the whole line. I ended up buying a new Panasonic combo at WalMart for less than $100. Its working well for now.

Thanks

You might want to check the thin ribbon cables attached to the dvd inside the unit, pull them out and slip them back in.

DVD stuck in player

Find the small hole on the front of the player. Get a paper clip and straighten it out. Stick one end in the hole and the DVD should pop out.
