Since this is a commercial box it is possible the second fan kicks in only when the coil temp gets down to a certain temp. this cuts down on snow development . you can look at the wiring to the fans and trace it back to whenre it comes into the blower area . does it go directly to fan a then to fan b? if so verify the voltage is getting to the motor. if it is then the motor is bad.if the power loops through a temp sensor it is possible the second fan doesn't energize till the coil temp is down to freezing. if you see no break in the incoming power to both motors then the motor itself is probably bad. it may be possible to switch power leads from running motor to non running motor. if you do and the bad motor runs the you've got a bad power lead to the motor. good luck.

if you have a refrigeration problem like low charge or in efficient compressor the coil will never get cold enough to activate the second fan. in the old days we would find the temp sensor and blast it with some liquid refrigerant, duplicating the cold coil. a sign of low ref charge is ice formation particularly on incoming feeder lines into coil, the small lines usually real tiny.if there is a sensor for fan it is usually clamped to a pipe in the coil or screwed to the bulkhead of the coil.

Hello Tana - Freezer might be experiencing some form of sealed system issue or a bad door seal. This can include the compressor not working correctly, the evaporator fan not turning, or even coolant in the lines not at the correct levels to properly cool. If the compressor is running, humming, or even a little warm then that is typically normal. However if the compressor is running hot, then it is over working and the issue could be before the compressor in the evaporator fan, coil or coolant lines. Trying checking if the door seal is bad; place a dollar bill between the body of the freezer and close the door. The dollar bill should stay in place and pull out with a small amount of resistance. If the dollar bill falls out when placed between the gasket and cabinet double check the door from closing then replace the gasket. If any proves to be ineffective, you would need to contact your manufacturer and then a professional to move forward accurately.

Most all commercial freezers have a fan delay/ defrost terminator. It is usually mounted on the end of the evap coil. It's purpose is to sense the temp of the coil during the defrost cycle. When it hits a preset temp., usually around 55 degrees or more (depends on Mfg.) It terminates the defrost cycle. It also doubles as a fan delay. It allows the evap coil to cool off from the defrost cycle before allowing the fan to come on. Usually, the coil has to get around 20 degrees before fan will energize. I would look for this as a possible problem. It could be one device with 3 wires or 2 separate devices with 2 wires each. I've seen it both ways.
Hope this helps.

Our Traulsen Freezer will not hold the cooling agent.

Have someone out to do a nitrogen leak check on it. Sounds like a leak needs to be found and fixed. Hard to find leaks can be spotted by adding UV dye to the system.

Freezer wont cool

This problem could be cause by a few things. Can you tell me if your condenser is clean? If it is dirty, the heat cannot be rejected. Will you feel the large copper line going to the compressor and tell me if it is cold to the touch? If it is not col and your compressor is running you may be low on refrigerant. Also, is the evaporator frozen over? If your evaporator is frozen over you might be low on refrigerant, or you evap fans may be out.

Commercial Freezers

I have worked in a lot of kitchens and don't really have a preferance. The top mounted compressor is better for you as it is easier to service and leaves more cabinet room. Dirt and dust also stay near the floor. YOu won't have to clean the filter as often up high The disadvantage to this in a kitchen is that kitchens are hot and up high is hotter still. Order a cheaper model. No glass doors, no stainless steel. You don't need these features.
