I have a Whirlpool Electric range Model Super Capicity 465, the oven will not shut off. Last evening the oven went on by itself and went into self cleaning mode. I shut the breaker down for 8 hours and turned it back on, the oven shows that is off but the top element is on full. Please explain this. Thanks

Replace the oven temperature sensor.
Take your model number to any appliance parts store for a replacement sensor.

When you turned the oven off, if the ignitor went off and the gas kept flowing then the thermal valve is defective. Maybe that was the problem all along.

I unplugged the appliance for an hour and after re-plugging, the problem went away.

How much time I need to set to do the oven self cleaning ?
