This has been driving me crazy for weeks, My laptops LCD started to come and go weeks ago, then it would go and come back every now and then, I checked the inverter to make sure it was solidly connected and it was, after that it kept coming and going out I decided to stick it out an connect itt to an externaI crt monitor and wait for it to die and then send it in, my wife kept telling me it will be back and I argued then after a few days it went out and stayed out and I was sure that it was dead, and my wife said I have a feeling it will come back of course I argued., so I have been using the CRT montor for a week now, when all of sudden guess who came back? Yep and right now it's on, but I'm still using dual montor just in case, I have searched the net high and low for an answer but other than coming and going and dying I can find anthing. I don't know what could be causing this other than a faulty LCD cable or the LCD itself is it worth it to open it up again and reseat the LCD cable, I know how trick they can be or should I just wait ?

Make sure you do not have any devices plugged in to the computer like a USB flash drive or a MMC. Usually what you have to do about that is to drain the power of the computer. Turn it off, remove the battery, unplug the AC adapter and then press the power button for 5 secs. Turn it on using the AC adapter alone. if you still get the same message, You will have to physically open the back of your laptop and reseat the Hard drive. If it still wont correct the problem, restart you computer and either press f2 or delete to enter the BIOS page. check if the HDD is properly detected and try to reload the BIOS defaults. now if any of these wont work, call ACER and most probably your Hard Drive is bad.

Let me guess...you tried to install Roxio or another burner, and then it did not work, so you uninstalled it, but now your dvd drive has disappeared. You have tried to update the drivers, but you get a message showing that you have the latest driver, but alas, no dvd drive.
Use the restore point created just prior to installing the burner software and you will be fine. I have fixed 5 Acer 3680 laptops in the last two weeks with this problem. If you want to use Roxio or another burner software, go to the Acer webpage and link from them. Peace and good luck.
