Win32k.sys file corrupt

Please Help! I was on my laptop yesterday with no problems. However, when I turned it on this morning, I got the blue screen of death. The screen says that there was a problem with Windows and the win32k.sys file. The computer just restarts over and over and over again. I am not even able to access the Safe Mode. Please Help!

When this occurs and your not able to go into safe mode, then 9 out of 10 times the hard drive has failed. However, there is still that one time, and that will be an operating system glitch. Start by doing a system repair with your recovery or operating system disc. If the repair doesn't take, then reformat the hard drive and install a new operating system. If the hard drive won't format, or you have any issues during or after the install, then the hard drive has failed and will need replaced.

That blue screen error is normally a bad driver. Windows could have updated a device in your pc and it just not work. Go into safe mode and roll the pc back to a date before the blue screen.

How do i prevent the blue screen from coming on again?

The blue screen is usually a harbinger of doom. The issue will only increase in frequency until it's terminal. You should back up your data and look into getting a new machine. In the meanwhile, keep the computer cool and maybe try dusting it out. But computers are really complicated things, it's impossible to know what subsystem is failing that's giving you that blue screen.

I repeat: back up your data and start saving for an expensive repair or a new laptop. If you're near Rockville, MD, contact me through my website, http://www.inovagent.com

Toshiba laptop, xp, wont start up.

Perhaps the shutdown corrupted a critical Windows startup file. Have you tried a Windows repair? You'll need the Windows XP CD to do it. An explanation is here: http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm#RI

Dell Dimension 4600 Blue Screen

Usually this blue screen appears due a hardware issue or drivers conflict.

1) Try to boot in safe mode (hit F8 after starting up) and select "Safe mode"

If you don't get access try doing this:

2) Run the OS CD and use the option Recover Console (R)
This will fix the problem.

3) If the problem continues, you will need to install the OS again.

Blue Screen

Start by pressing F2 at start up and going into the bios. The do the hard drive test, if it fails, then your hard drive has failed and will need replaced, and yes, you are going to lose your files. If the drive passes the test, then you will need to run a system repair with your recovery or operating system disc. The repair will allow you to fix the glitch in the operating system without losing any of your files.
