Cleaning the hard plastic coffee pot

Hi I have a Barista Utopia from Starbucks and I've had this for about 6 years. This pot is not dishwasher safe nor can I submerge it in water due to the plug at the bottom of the coffee pot. There is a greasy coffee film that has developed over time and I do not know how to clean this off. Do you have any suggestions on how to clean this coffee craft? its opening is very narrow at the top and is too small for you to put your hand through. I have searched for a User Guide online without any luck nor have I found anyone else with this problem.

I have the very same problem. The inside of the coffee pot is so hard to clean!! I think I'm going to try running vinegar through it. still, I'm sure it won't get the very top on the inside thats impossible to reach with any brush!

Just use a dishwasher soap tab to clean carafes. Let it (and a carafe full of water) sit overnight. Be sure to rinse more than you think necessary or it WILL taste vile!

Patience- this may sound goofy.

In cleaning similarly difficult containers, I found a method that works for me.

Although other cleaners may work, I keep an inexpensive product which is a Simple Green knockoff called Mean Green.
It seems to be the same formula and costs a whole $5 a gallon from a dollar store.
For most cleaning, it can be heavily diluted and works better that way without leaving too much film behind.

Then (because it was there) I used the crushed charcoal purchased for the aquarium, dumped a half-cup of it into (it was a thermos), added a 1/4 cup of concentrated cleaner - and shook.

The charcoal is fairly light and not too abrasive but the shaking randomizes contact with the surface and scrubs it clean.

Uuuhh, rinse THOROUGHLY; it tastes terrible!

BTW, half mixed with water and in a spray bottle, it works great at killing insects and disabling wasp nests.
The stuff is very good at breaking surface tension and really wets anything it touches and, for the enviro fanatics, it degrades in nature.

Need lid for starbucks barista aroma grande 12 cup carafe.

The exact same lid is on the Wolfgang Puck WPTPCM010 coffee maker. (It's exactly like the Starbucks one - same size & fit.) Call (800) 275-8273 and order part # WPTPCM010-6; the product description is "LID FOR CARAFE". It will cost you $4.99 + 5.00 shipping. My Starbucks coffee pot works PERFECTLY again. Just make sure that you put the lid on the carafe correctly before you use it, since the seal is new.

Saeco Starbucks barista.Espresso drips.

There was an unusual high pressure problem, remove the shower and screw, then the 2 allen wrench screws and check the spring and valve seat, they may have shifted.

Inside of carafe changing color -- is it still safe to use? (have been using it for 6 years)

The owners manual with our "12 cup Barista aroma grande" recommends cleaning the unit with a cleaner / descaler that you can buy at Starbucks, or 6 cups of a 50-50 vinegar-water solution, or 6 cups of a 50-50 lemon juice (no pulp!)-water solution. You have to then run a whole pot full of water through to rinse the unit. My wife cleans it once or twice a year with the Starbucks cleaner, and the staining comes off the inside of the pot (you may have to do it more than once with a 6-year deposit). The coffee also tastes better afterwards - less heavy and oily, more crisp and flavorful.

My Barista Saeco is 4 yrs.old. Pump works good in the steam cycle but bogs down in the brew cycle. Today the pump almost stopped completely. What's up?

Try cleaning your portafilter. Put a pinch of automatic dishwashing detergent in the portafilter basket only. Brew until you get suds comming out then stop for 1 minute. Repeat 5-10 times, stoping for the minute each time, until you get white foam. Then rinse basket and brew empty for a complete tank. Then try brewing again with coffee.

Starbucks uses a cleaning tab to clean out their coffee pots every am..do you know what it is????????

You could simply ask them at the store...  I know they do sell a descaling product at their stores. Most hardware stores sell coffee machine descaler. I use a cleaner/descaler called "CLR" (Calcium-Lime-Rust) which comes in a small grey jug and is available at most hardware stores.
