Question about Acer Aspire 5102WLMi Notebook

Computer crashed and will not restore.

I have tried to restore my computer and keep getting the message of failed reason Oxf0000005. Then it says NTLDR is missing and will not restart after pressing any key.
I installed a new HDD (250 GB) in place of the original 120GB and during the restore process I got an error (oxf0000005). Any ideas?

XP or Vista!!! That makes a huge difference, you should have listed your operating system in the post. I'll look into it tomorrow and get back to you.

If you cannot restore your pc in the normal windows mode. Go to the safe mode just before you log
on to windows by pressing Ctr F11 before the startup of windows. I found that this worked for me.

Try the Ultimate Boot CD (UBCD).

I have tried to restore my computer and keep getting the message of failed reason Oxf0000005.

This is a message that is given with a blue screen? If so then it is a Common error message for Missing NTLDR. Reinstall OS again.
What version of Windows and how far into the Restore are you getting to when you get this issue?
Also, it could be an issue with the restore image/files that you are using that is causing the problem.

If you are recovering to a new harddrive, because your original HD crashed or is about to crash or can't boot, then find a tool (GPartEd is free and works) to format the entire disk to an NTFS partition. If you want to split the partition to OS and "other", Windows 7 Home premium 64-bit needs at least 100Gb. Basically: PRE-PARTITION before trying to restore to a new HD. To me, these other answers are misleading.

-try to do a system restore on the computer
-restart the computer and while the computer is booting up; keep on tapping the F8 key to get the one-time boot menu, select repair my computer, then on the keyboard layout just hit next, enter your UN and PW, then select system restore on the options provided
-if system restore fails; run diags on the computer; to run diags, while the computer is off, press and hold the Fn key and press power at the same time
-If you get an error message; contact manufacturer for a possible hardware fault.

Restore failed - reason 0xa000000e

Did you install a new hard drive in the Acer? They have had problems when trying to restore windows onto a new drive or trying to use system restore on the existing drive. The same error message comes up.

It seems that when the pqservice partition is not on the drive, the recovery DVD won't work if the drive contains any partition (Restore Failed - reason 0xa000000e) is all you will see.

However, try deleting everything on the drive (leaving only unpartitioned space) before putting in the recovery DVD. The eRecovery tool first says that it is repartitioning the drive and then starts the install successfully.
I hope this helps.

This could be caused by a corrupted operating system, a virus or a faulty memory card. You may first try to restore your computer to a date when you think it last allowed you to download something. See if it works.

To run system restore, go to start>all programs>accessories>system restore.

Computer crashed and will not restore.

if u tried installing windows from a CD onto the HDD and it still says missing ntldr. seems like a Bad hard-drive.

you can restart by pressing control-alt-delete.

then, try booting from windows CD and repairing the windows installation. if it gives u file copy errors.then, it is a HDD failure. get a new HDD.

Acer Restore

The recovery partition is corrupted. 1st option is, You can send your computer to acer repair center in germany. I believe acer have international warranty. 2nd option is to buy the recovery cd from acer, you can installed by yourself.
About downloadable OS, i don't think they have it online.
