Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

I have a Hotpoint WF440 washing machine which makes a loud noise when washing, and an even louder noise when spinning. Sounds like bearing trouble. Any ideas, please?

This definatley bearing trouble. its one where you can fix yourself ONLY if your willing to take up the whole day doing it..
The problem with bearings is that once you get to them, it can be tricky taking them out of the shaft because they can crack and leave the outer shell of the bearing in the machine.

if you wanna try it your self then i have a similar solution you can use posted for a wma. the only thing diffrence is that its easier than the wma..

cheer washdoctor

just let me know if you need help

Loud noise when spinning and pieces of frayed plastic found inside washer

sounds like the motor bearing has gone and the pastic your finding is the bearing housing the loud noise is the drum banging on the side of the machine, you will need new bearing or bushes it will still work just be noisey and will get even louder eventually.

Washing machine makes a loud vibrating noise when spinning and sprays grease onto washing

It sounds like the main bearings have failed, try turning the drum by hand, if it feels rough or is niosy, then the bearings have failed.

Hi my hotpoint washing machine is near 3 years old the last few weeks it is making a terrible noise when on spin only. \r\nthe noise is really loud but everything is washing and drying the same its just...

Sounds loike the main drum bearings have failed.
Spin the drum by hand from the front, and if it feels rough, or is rumbling or grating, then the main bearigs have failed.
Quite an expensive repair, unless it is covered by the Hotpoint 5 year parts guarantee, check with Hotpoint.

Maytag washing mchine makes a loud noise when on spin.

It sounds like your main bearing has gone out. It's quite an expense to fix and generally isn't worth fixing even if you do the repair yourself as the parts run about $600 by themselves and it takes about 1/2 a day to replace them. You can't replace the bearing itself so you have to replace the rear half of the outter tub and the inner tub.

When spinning it seems the washer is getting louder and louder during the spin cycle. It is a very steady noise no grinding to it. Maybe a bearing?

make sure heavy items are evenly distributed in the barrel. if to loud , stop the machin by openning the lid and make sure the weight is evenly distributed. never just throw laundry in , place it so wieght is evenly placed around.

It gets progessively loud the faster the spin speed.

WF440 drum locked solid

easy check is to remove the little panel at the back and look for dirt marks on the bottom and running down the back of the drum...

from experience if your machine was noisy before when it was running then yes your bearing has gone..

Loud noise during spin cycle

this is my experience repairing the maytag washer Atlantis mav series 9750 aww, I had to replace the spin bearing since it was making a jet engine noise when it was spinning out the water. its not an easy job for my 1st time taking this machine apart, you literally take it all apart to get to this bearing, but now I can show how to do it with pictures making it easier for you to do it. even if you have to replace something other than the spin bearing, this how to tutorial will show you how to get to most of the parts in this machine
