The motherboard supports AMD socket AM2 single-core Athlon 64/ Sempron and dual-core Athlon 64 X2/ Athlon 64 FX processors with 2MB / 1MB / 512KB L2 cache, which is based on 64-bit architecture. It features 2000 / 1600 MT/s Hyper Transport Bus, dual-channel un-buffered DDR2 800 memory support and AMD Cool 'n' Quiet! Technology.

The BIOS changes it on it's own when add a dual core.

Here is the PDF file on this board. Chapter 2 explains the Bios.

MCP61M-M3 V7.1 no boot

difficult, did you try 32 bit on the HDD?, if this fails to, then the IDE/SATA controller on the board or the traces that link the controller to the southbridge may be damaged, if you have one, or can afford one, try a new board, if this fails, then it's your hard disk!

Intel Core 2 Quad 8200 with a 945GCT-M3? Will it work?

Hello here is the homepage:

http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Product/Product_Detail.aspx?CategoryID=1&DetailID=719&DetailName=Feature&MenuID=1&LanID=0

Here you can see the supported cpu list.

The quad core cpu will not run on this mainboard.

Here is info about the quad cpu:

http://ark.intel.com/products/36547/Intel-Core2-Quad-Processor-Q8200-4M-Cache-2_33-GHz-1333-MHz-FSB

But you can add a Intel Core 2 Extreme LGA775
This should give a noteable difference compares to the old single core cpu.

Remember also to buy a bigger cpu cooling element.

Here is no upgrade for the bios.

Good luck
