Question about Canon PowerShot A430 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Too bright picture with white lines in them

The pictures are appearing too much bright and they have the white lines in them when I shot any picture.
If I shoot in dark, it's a little better, but if there's little light then the picture appears too white.
It was alright, I'm using it for more than a year.

Please help me.

Photos taken outside are white, can barely make out the images. photos taken inside, color o.k. but has lines through the picture. LCD in back of camera also has lines through the Canon logo. Video perfectly o.k. Camera approx 2 years old.

My camera is doing the same thing and sadly Canon said it's not covered under warranty (as it's been 2 years) and there is no recall on this camera (despite posts I've read to the contrary on this site.) I called customer service and they said I could have it fixed for $100 flat rate (not counting shipping fees) or I could have a 20% voucher to a refurbished camera off their e-store. I was disappointed because I can buy a new camera for $100 but I guess it was good of them to offer the voucher when I'm out of warranty. Oh and I'm in Canada, maybe it's different in the USA.

Bought my camera in May 2006. 2 days ago, all photos taken during the day are too bright to see....but can see white bright horizontal bands. photos taken at night are slightly better, can see the picture, but the picture has bands also. video is perfectly clear, though.

Hi, I have also the same problem, I bought my canon a430 last dec 2006. and last Nov 2008, it just came up with a picture with horizontal lines when it is bright outside..but there are times pictures went okay if i take a shot without too much light. I know it's already out of warranty but I will try and see if I can get it repaired at a canon service center...hopefully they won't charge me that much for the repair - karen

I do have the same problem. But they told me these are signs of the optical chip has expired. The cost is about half of the camera price estimated. Might as well buy a new one. Consider your camera's expired after a year.

I suggest you to write a letter to Canon and to contact your local service dealer. After some struggling, they accepted the warranty claim and repaired my camera free of charge. The problem appeared when the camera was 23 months old.

Picture taken is so bright and with trasparent horizontal line

If the photo shoot out show white , the obscure (quality variation), and even horizontal line ( white lines), and so on over-exposure cases, even if the use of anti-tremor, set to default values are invalid, because the camera shutter fault.

It's need repair camera machine shutter.

Pictures look like a bright light has been turned on.

Hello, posted by clowrie When I take a photo (doesnt matter if I am nusing flash or not) the photo is all white washed and there are fine lines along the entire picture. Does any one have any suggestions for what may be the issue? Comment by clowrie, Because of your help I was able to findout that Sony is aware of the CCD problem and is reparing the problem for free. Thanks so much for the help.
