Question about Cuisinart DCC-2000

1 Answer

Will not brew most of the time. Every so often it will go thru the cycle. Have put vinegar thru to decalcify. Still will not cycle. 1 year old - bought refurbished.

I have an intermittant problem with my Cuisinart DCC-2000 coffee maker. Most of the time it works fine. But about every third or fourth time, it won’t start perking or it may start after different delays in time. It may start in 2 minutes or in 2 hours or not at all. Any ideas?

I have the same problem.  For a while I could unplug it from the wall and than plug it back in and it would work.  Now when I do the same thing the clock works but it won't start brewing.  Ticks me off after spending $140 Canadian 2 years after having it.

Try running undiluted vinegar through the machine. Fill the vinegar up to at least line 5 and let it sit for 30 minutes. Repeat then brew fresh water to remove vinegar from machine. Worked for me temporarily, had to repeat the process a month later. Currently looking for something stronger to get the minerals out. Guess there's a clog in the line.

The parts to repair a problem of this magnitude are generally not available. The DCC-2000 has a thre-year warranty. I would call Cuisinart and see if you can get an in-warranty replacement. I have a high opinion of cuisinart and their products, but this particular coffeemaker, I do not personally reccomend.

Sounds like a cleaning problem. Mix 1/2 vinegar and 1/2 water pout into machine and brew,WITHOUT K CUP! Do 5-6 x's and then brew plain water to rinse vinegar out. Do this several times. Should be ready to go.

How to decalcify

Make a solution of ½ pot vinegar and ½ pot water.
Run a cycle thru the machine. If there is a cleaning function on the coffee maker, use that.
If very calcified, run a newly made solution thru again.
Rinse by cycling fresh, plain water thru, 2 times.

mcdevito75 here, Your Mr. Coffee may need cleaning, here"s how, Fill the resovoir with white vinegar, cycle thru the machine 3 times, half way thru the 3rd time stop 1/2 way thru and turn off machine for 30 minutes, then recycle. After that rinse your Mr, Coffeee by cycleing thru fresh water each cycle takes another resovoir of fresh water to get rid of the vinegar. If this is not the problem, maybe the pump is shot. Contact Mr. Coffee by phone or online at Mr. Coffee.com or replace the machine.

Water doesn't come down when brewing

I had the same problem, and it turned out it was the top needle that was clogged. I used a safety pin to clean out the needle and it worked again . . . I descaled immediately, just in case it needed that too. I am back to coffee goodness!

How to clean

mcdevito75 here, Start with a new paper filter or claen the perminant one, you"ll need enough WHITE VINEGAT to fill the pot itself 3/4 full of this WHITE VINEGAR, NOW pour the pot of 3/4 full of WHITE VINEGAR into the resovoir, replace pot in the coffeee maker and cycle thru the vinegar 3 times, each time letting the mavhine cool a bit for easy handleing, on the 3 rd cycle stop 1/2 thru the brew cycle, let machine cool for 30 Minutes, then complete that cycle. Now repeat with fresh water to reove all the vinegar from the machine. Your coffee maker should now be good as new.

I have a Mr. Coffee model JHX33 coffee maker, and have lost the owners manual I need cleaning instructions. Can you possibly help me?\r\n Thanks Eddie Thatcher

mcdevito75 here, I too have a Mr. Coffee, coffee maker 4 cup. The instuctions shold be just about the same for both our Mr. Coffee mavhines, ------ With a new or clean filter in the machine fill the pot 3/4 way full of White Vinegaar the pour that into the resovior, place thepot back in place on the machine and start the machine up, let the vinegar cycle thru, when done the vinegar is now in the pot, empty the pot back into the resovoir, and cycle again, this time 1/2 way thru the cycle or pot half full stop the cycle for 30 mins. this will keep the vinegar in the machine and claen all the little ports. After 30 mins, complete the cycle. repaet this 2 more times. Then repaet once the machine is cool but this time use plain water, repaeat plain water cycle 3--4 times to clean out all the vinegar, Mr. Coofee needs claening when you notice coffee brewing has slowed down or maCHINE STEAMS TOO MUCH DURING BREWING CYCLE.

How to clean the kitchenaid java express coffee maker

The Coffee Maker can be descaled using
a packaged descaling agent or vinegar.
Always mix the descaling solution using
cool water.
• When using a descaling agent, follow
the directions on the package for the
recommended amounts of descaling
agent and water to use.
• When using vinegar, fill the carafe with
a solution consisting of 1⁄2 vinegar and
1⁄2 water.
Descaling Steps:
1. Before descaling, always remove the
water filter (see “Installing the Ion-
Exchange Water Filter” on page 7) and
make sure the brew basket contains
no coffee or coffee filters.
2. Run the Coffee Maker through a
complete brewing cycle using a full
carafe of the descaling solution.
3. If the cleaning needed indicator lights
after the brewing cycle is complete,
repeat Step 2 using fresh descaling
solution. Keep repeating Step 2 until
the cleaning needed indicator no
longer lights after brewing.
4. Rinse the Coffee Maker by running
it through two brewing cycles using a
full carafe of fresh, cool water
each time.
5. Wash the brew basket in hot, soapy
water and rinse with hot water. This
part can also be washed in the upper
rack of the dishwasher.
6. Reinstall or replace the water filter.
Replace the filter every three months
under normal usage, or more often
with heavy use.

Coffee maker shuts off during brew cycle

I to have been battling this same problem on and off for a couple of years, and have been trying to find out why it thinks it id done brewing. I have had some success but exactly what fixes it I don't know.
I called Cuisinart and they told me to change the water filter in it. This didn't work, but I did see some grounds and even a bean had gotten under the filter. I cleaned that out and it fixed it, that time. If you don't have a filter, shine a light down the water reservoir and make sure you don't see anything.
Other than that I do a bunch of cleaning cycles with, Brew Rite Cleaner, Whink Automatic Drip Coffeemaker Cleaner, and vinegar. Don't mix them, just follow the directions on each. Follow with a bunch of rinse cycles. I still don't know which one does the most to fix the problem. For all I know it could just be all of the rinse cycles.
Just keep trying, there is hope that you won't have to tend to your coffee maker forever.
