Question about Krups XP2070 10 cup Coffee Maker/15 bar Pump Espresso

2 Answers

No espresso When I start the machine, it warms up properly and after the lcd shows it ready, I select the numbre of cups I want. Unfortunately, the machine only pumps a small amount of expresso and I have to start over again. It takes a number of cycles in order to get a fulol up of espresso.

Same problem.  Takes several restarts to get enough to make a cup of espresso.

Descaled, but it did not help.

    Also, frothing is poor.

I had the same problem and found out that the flow meter was not working. The control unit was not getting flow information and after about 5-10 seconds it will just stop and blink all the lights. I replaced the flow meter and solved the problem. The flow meter is located between the water tank and the pump.

Thanks, same problem were with my coffe machine. If someone else have similar problem this is procedure how to test if flow meter is cause: Open coffe machine and pull out flow meter (do not disconnect it, just unscrew it from housing), prepare any magnet (neodimium magnet if possible), press the button to start making coffe. Coffe machine will start, then stop for a second, then start again. When it starts again put magnet close to flow meter's contacts and then move the magnet away and keep repeating that moves very fast. If coffe machine is working fine then you have to replace flow meter.

I have exactly the same problem with my XP2070. Your info was helpful and I'll go to the local Krups service center to check it out. Thank you.

    Flow meter:http://www.smallappliance.com/product.as...

I consider myself to be fairly handy (wired my kitchen/bath, etc...) but this is not an easy thing to replace. Removed the back panel, then the bottom panel. Had a tough time getting to 1 screw that held the flow meter in. The side panel was in the way and I couldn't figure out how to take it off without breaking it. Used a very small flat head screw driver (from eye glass repair kit) and small pliers (to grasp and turn it) to remove the screw. Took about 2 hours to get it out and replaced, however it took 2 more to re-assemble the damn thing. I recommend patience, a sound proof room so no one hears you curse and take pictures as you go for reference.

Same problem I have, flow meter! you could buy it @ http://www.smallappliance.com/product.asp?pid=13677&cur=USD&cam=krupsusa although I am not sure which cluster you would connect the flow meter to the power board. My husband and I have opened the machine and we forgot to reconnect the flow meter to the power board. If you could take a look for us either J3 or J6 I will be more than happy to know. thks

Make sure the k-cup holder is snapped completely back into place. If the arrows aren't aligned and you don't snap the arrow-side in first, it won't work. If that doesn't do it, check your water reservoir to ensure it is properly seated in it's base. Hope that helps...best of luck!

Coffee not hot enough

hi elite 288! have you tried pre-heating your coffee cups? i fill w/hot water, then set them on cup warmer until i brew coffee (dump out water & slide cup under spout at last moment) and i do my frothing of milk before brewing espresso. also, have you allowed adequate time for machine to warm up/run just water through machine: after it indicates it's ready to go, hit the brew button & allow about a 1/2 cup or cup of water to run thru, warming up the brewhead. when ready button again lights up, brew your espresso. if this doesn't get it hot enough for you, try descaling your machine (you can look online or in manual for how to do this). since you have a refurb unit & heating element may not have been replaced, it could have some build up on it causing it to heat up all the water less efficiently. if this doesn't work, you may need to have the place you purchased it from diagnose and repair. good luck!

Saeco magic

I believe the model you have has no user-selectable temperature settings. The manual for the Magic line suggests preheating the cups as the fix. You can use the electronic cup warner OR run your tap/faucet water as hot as possible, fill the cup you're going to be dispensing espresso into with hot water while your Saeco warms up...right before you hit the button to dispense espresso, empty the hot water, dry the preheated cup and you're set! It only takes a few seconds. This way, you waste none of your coffee's thermal emergy on cup heating and your coffee will stay hot longer. Hope this helps!
