Hi, my samsung syncmaster 214T starts up and flickers hard permanently. I can do everything, change resolution, refresh rate and the monitor responds but it does not stop flickering. Is it a power supply problem, inverter or capacitors?

Hello,

Flashing or flickering is a common indication of failing capacitors in the power supply board. The fix is very simple and just requires replacing 5 capacitors on the board. They will need to be soldered. Here is a link to a repair guide for the Samsung 214T units. http://www.ccl-la.com/blog/index.php/samsung-214t-repair/

I hope this helps, if so please rate our solution.

Tell me what is samsung syncmaster 794 default setting

The maximum resolution supported is 1280 x 1024 pixels at 65 Hz refresh rate, while the recommended resolution stands at 1024 x 768 pixels at 85 Hz. However, the maximum usable resolution is 1152 x 864 pixels at 75 Hz. Maximum usable resolution signifies the maximum resolution supported by a monitor at a refresh rate of 75 Hz or better. Though 85 Hz is an ideal refresh rate, 75 Hz is the lower limit. Any refresh rate, lower than 75 Hz, will give a flickered output and can cause some serious eye damage after prolonged usage...i hope this helps.

Hello,

The flickering is caused by a power supply board that can't stabilize the output voltages. This type problem is caused by failing capacitors. If you can solder then you should be able to do the repair yourself. Monitor has visible refresh rates so it flickers. All cables are securely plugged in, and I can't change the frequency in screen resolution setting.

install an AGP card into an AGP slot then you can change the resolution to higher level.currently you are using the motherboard with inbuilt display card which do not suppurt high resolution use 8X AGP CARD for better result

Image blur

You need to check that display resolution in your Display properties is set to the native resolution for wide monitor typically 1440><900 for the size you mention.
Blurred image is due to using 4 : 3 resolution setting of 1024 >< 768 on a 16 : 9 wide monitor.

214T - flickers radidly

Yes,

A flickering screen indicates the power supply is not properly filtering the output power. This happens when the capacitors on the power board start failing. Here is a link to a repair guide that shows how to dis-assemble the unit and what to look for and replace on the power supply board. The repair guide also has videos showing the process.

Syncmaster 710N resolution problem

no,
the LCD display don't harm the eyes cause don't spreed radiation.
preferred resolution 1280x1024 at refresh rate of 60Hz is not optimal.
the samsung 710N can easy handle 75Hz at 1280x1024 so just change it.
