Question about GE GSS25JFPCC / GSS25JFPWW Side by Side Refrigerator
I have a GE GSS22JFMD WW side by side. Yesterday we noticed the top shelf of the fridge seemed quite warm but the lower shelves were cooler, and the freezer seemed fine. Later in the day the top shelf of the freezer warmed above freezing, top shelf of fridge at 60 degrees but bottom shelf at 45 (with temp control moved up to 9). I'm assuming some sort of derfost problem? There is some ice on the back wall of the freezer. I've read so much about recurring problems with these I'm wondering if it is worth fixing, and about how much to expect to spend?
Thanks for any info!
How old is this frig? If it is older that 12-15 years, get a new one. Make sure there is not blockage to keep the air from circulating properly. The vent from the freezer to the cooler should also be free from blockage as well.
