Hello,

You can try the following steps:

The Two-Sided Printing Accessory is installed incorrectly, not at all, or the back access door is unlocked or open.

Solution

  1. Turn the knob on the rear access door of the printer counter-clockwise, and then remove the door.
  2. Insert the accessory into the back of the printer.
  3. If the lights remain on, remove the Two-Sided Printing Accessory by pressing in the buttons on the ends of the unit.
  4. Reinstall the Two-Sided Printing Accessory by pushing the unit back into the printer without pressing the buttons, until it snaps firmly into place.
If you need further assistance, you will find a link that explains all the lights on the printer here.

Also, Vista doesn't have any full feature drivers available yet, other than the default drivers supplied with Vista. For more information click here for some workarounds.

Hope this helps. Please remember to rate this information.

Thanks

I have hp deskjet 5550 printer, when i was trying to print a document there is no print out, two lights are blinking

Hi, This could be Low-Ink or paper Jam. Try turning off The printer, Unplug from The Mains Electric, for 3-5 Minutes. Turn back On, if Lights Are Still There. Check The Ink-Levels. And Replace Cartridges, if necessary.

Ink light keeps blinking on hp deskjet 5650. Followed HP's directions for cleaning cartridges, as the utility that came with the printer does not work on Vista, but still will not print.

Check 16V leg of power supply. I had same problem, but since the carridge and lights worked I assumed power supply was OK. Tried all kinds of things but nothing worked so I replaced the HP5650 with another one. Same problem. Changed power supply and both printers worked. When I put a DVM to the original PS I had the 32V leg but the 16V leg was dead. Who would have thought?

Hp 5550 deskjet not printing

This is typical cartridge problem.Which cartridge changed? This printer can print with the only one cartridge inside it, whatever which.Try this: Open cover put out color cartridge then close cover. If blinking stops replace color cartridge. If blinking continues put out black cartridge and put in color. If blinking stops replace black cartridge, if not stop replace both cartridges.
If this not help your printer has problem in carriage unit and need repair.

Using XP, my HP Deskjet 5550 printer allowed me to set margins of 0.5 inches and the document printed correctly. With my new Vista 64-bit OS, I get a message that the margins are outside the printable area...

Try when the message comes up click on print anyway. I have to do this with my printer sometimes and when I click print anyway and do not try to correct it prints fine.

Top light blinking, will not print

I believe that the top light is the low printer cartridge signal. Did you replace the cartridge or just take it out and reinstall it? Did you use a new HP cartridge or refilled cartridge?

Try a new ink cartridge from HP and double check that you have the correct cartridge for your printer. If that doesn't solve the problem, contact HP.

My HP 5550 Deskjet won't print mirror image

You'll need to go to the manufacturer's site and find Vista drivers for your HP. Going from Win 98 to Vista is a major jump. I had to convert from XP to Vista and I still had to go get Vista drivers.

Also, make sure you get 32 or 64 bit drivers for the system.

Duplex not recognised

You need to set the duplexer to installed. For Vista this would be done as follows: go to the Printers folder, Right Click on the 5550, Run as Administrator, Properties, (continue), Device Settings, Installable Options, Duplex unit (set to Installed), Apply, OK.

Once you have done this in Vista the duplexer will work but the back side may print upside down regardless of the settings. This can be corrected with a patch available here.
